Hi: I usually post in the Crohn's forum but thought I would post here b/c I have Crohn's Colitis. Anyway, had a doctor's appt this morning and he wants to put me on oral Cyclosporine. I was pretty surprised because I thought that was a pretty heavy duty drug. Mind you, I've been on a lot (6MP, Remicade, Humira) and they've only made me worse. Wanted to know about people thoughts and opinions of cyclosplorine -- was it awful, did it help, etc.

If that doesn't work, then methotrexate. If that doesn't work, I'm looking at a perm ileostomy.
Thanks for your feedback.

I recommend trying methotrexate before trying cyclosporine.

Cyclosporine has a decent track record in "rescue" applications, ie, improving a UC patient with fulminant colitis enough to let them keep their colon, but it's generally not considered a long-term solution.

If methotrexate doesn't work for you, I'd try another biological - like Cimzia or Tysabri.

I have no experience with it, but I do want to try it.

Keep us updated if you do use it, I am interested.

I won't try another biologic --- Remicade and Humira almost hospitalized me. Cimzia is too similar and Tysabri just plain scares me. Methotrexate is an option and so is anti-Map route. Thanks for your feedback.
