Sorry for the graphic posting, but I had a problem Saturday night that I've never had and didn't know if it warranted a trip to the ER or not, should it happen again.  I'm one of the lucky Crohnies who normally has C intead of D.  But, Saturday night, I had two rounds of D and the second one was bloody.  I had really bad intestional pains before it all started.  I haven't gone since then, so I'm hoping it wasn't too serious.  I know many of you have had this before but I never have and didn't know how serious it was.  Does anyone know what this could have been and if it warrants a trip to the ER?  My husband thought we should go, but I thought I'd wait and see if it happened again.  Thanks so much!

Was it bright red blood or was it darker blood? If it was bright red blood it could have been from internal hemmoroids or a fissure. If its darker blood that means its coming from higher up. Have you seen anymore blood since then?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get an idea of whats going on. I think if its something different for you, I might call the doc and see what he says. Good luck~

I'm thinking it was brighter, but since it was mixed with brown, it came out darker and it makes it kind of hard to be sure.  I haven't seen any blood since then, but I also haven't gone #2 either.  I've had a few rumbles in the gut that worried me, but nothing ever came of it.  I thought about calling the answering service and leaving a message for the dr on call that night, but that's one of those phone calls that are hard to make..."yeah, can you tell the dr. that I'm crapping blood?"  =)  I thought I'd check on here first and then maybe give him a call today just to see what he says.

I think since this is a first time for you, it's worth a call to your GI.

I will see blood every now and then but I know I have inflammation right at the rectum and it's typically just a bit of red when I wipe.  So I don't bother to call.

When I first got sick 8 years ago I passed a lot of blood, and that was what got me to [finally] call the DR.  The bleeding you saw Saturday is probably from some inflammation somewhere.  Since you also had D it's possible you're flaring and need to change your meds.

Thanks, everyone.  I tried calling earlier and was on hold forever, so I will try calling again.  I've felt like I was starting to flare for the last couple of weeks anyway but we are really out of medication options, I think.  I'll see what he says.

I don't think the doctor's asst has ever just put me on hold and went to talk to him...you get a much quicker response when you are crapping blood than when you just have stomach pains!  =)  He is calling in a medrol dose pack for me and wants me to let him know if that doesn't work.  I guess the Crohn's flare has officially begun after about 4 years in remission...maybe I'll switch back to Humira instead of Cimzia.
