Hey everyone! Its 4am and I have been feeling fine, didn't eat anything bad tonight and I just got really overly nauseas. When I got sick, I threw up a little blood.  Does this happen to anyone else? I haven't been feeling sick either, so now I'm really scared!! Will be calling the dr. in the morning.

There wasn't a whole lot of blood. I dry heaved for a bit, then coughed up what looked like two red-ish areas of what looked like "blood", probably about the size of a larger marble. I haven't thrown up any more, or had any diarrhea.

I did remember that I had some red grapes today at lunch about 16 hours ago, perhaps thats all it was? My dr's office opens in 3.5 hours and I am definitely calling them when they open, but I'm not sure if I should go to the ER now. I am kind of waiting to see if I throw up again or not. I will feel silly if the blood just turns out to be a grape!

Thanks for the advice. My husband is out of town on business and my dog isn't much of a conversationalist!

Almost 30 minutes has gone by and no more vomit. This sounds disgusting, but I almost wish I had taken a photograph of the vomit, so that I"d be able to accurately describe what I saw. Definintely didn't look like coffee grounds, so now I'm thinking maybe more grapes. I think a dr call in the am is still the best thing to do, but unless I vomit again, no ER for me.

I was once told by a doctor, after the same thing happened to me when I first began having CD symptoms, that blood in vomit could be a result of a tear in the esophagus while heaving. He said that is often the case if the blood is bright red and if there is only a small amount of it.

Yes, this happened to my daughter when she was on Methotrexate. She would vomit every time she took it and there was always blood. One time, there were several mouth fulls. That was so scary. We brought her in for an urgent Ultrasound the next day, but they said everything was ok. We took her off the Methotrexate after that.

By any chance do you have sinus or allergy problems? It could also account for nausea and blood in your vomit....just a thought...
