What a crazy weird stress week.

So far since starting the pentasa I have not made it over 2 weeks without an episode.  I had to reset the count again last week.
Well Sunday morning, when I got home from work, my little old dog was sitting and waiting for me as usual.  But sit was all she could do.  It turns out that she had developed spinal problems in her old age that caused her rear legs to become paralyzed.  So Sunday afternoon, when I got up, she was still in bad shape so I decided to skip work and take her to the doggie ER.  That decision made, there was NO, none, not a hint of a BM and I am regular like clockwork when not having other issues.  For 3 days watching the poor dog try and suffer through her meds in an attempt to make her better, my gut is fine which is weird because it was some really gut-wrenching stuff.  I felt the lower lateral pain but was fine otherwise.  Wednesday the decision was made to do the last trip to the vet.  My wife and I got home totally wrecked and distraught, belly still ok, but I was worried, so I had a can of soup for dinner.  Apparently it didn't matter.  Thursday on into today, my insides feel wrecked again.  It seems like I was ok during the stress but once it was gone...................I don't know.  It might be like a vice was clamping everything down, and then released the pressure?

Anyone have any thoughts on the reverse stress thing?  Any thoughts on how to deal with stress of this magnitude?

I noticed that when my mind is busy on other things I forget about my symptoms

I think sometimes you are running on adrenaline and you are so focused on something that it does not hit you till later. When my Dad passed I did not have an episode until several weeks later. It was like everything caught up with me. I am so sorry you had to put your doggy down. I had to euthanize my cat last July because of complications of diabetes and I was a wreck. I had had her for 12 years so it was very difficult.  And oddly enough, no episodes while I was dealing with it.
Dx with crohns February 25, 2010. But suspect I had it since 2002 with very mild symptoms.
4 lialda a day.
3 entocort daily for the next few months
hyosamine for daytime
Bentyl for evening
Ferrous Sulfate(iron supplement)

I'm sorry for what you have been going through. For me, my body seems to know to only give me one thing at a time, or that I can only handle one thing at a time. When ever I have been dealing with any kind of other illness/surgery, or any major stress issue, no matter how sick I have been CD wise going into it, the CD calms down and stays that way until well after the crisis is over. Then all heck breaks loose. Just try to be good to your self and hope that things calm down soon.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Hell is still breaking loose although the worst of the trauma is over.  I just don't get this "reverse psychology" of my insides.

I'm not sure what you mean by reverse psychology, but I do know that sometimes it takes a couple days for stress to show in my symptoms. So by the tiem things calm down, my body is still freaking out. Also, sometimes I feel like under constant stress I get let-down symptoms when my body starts to relax. Its frustrating, but I am with ya on the "*** is my body doing now sense."

What I meant about the reverse psychology is that usually in times of high stress my gut acts up.  This was higher than normal stress and it was like nothing as for my gut and nerves, until after the fact.
