HI
The purpose of this post is to let you know my experience so others who can not get a diagnosis might get there faster.
I have had a bad gut my entire life. I have had three series of extensive tests. The first two came back IBS. I have had an upper gi track, colonoscopy, promethus blood work and something else where i had to drink barium. Although there was an indication of crohns nothing was definative.
I just got the results from the Pill Cam and the doctor showed me pictures of ulcers through out the small bowel. There is no way to get this diagnosis without the pill cam and I wish I had it years ago. This is my experience and I hope this rings true for at least one other person so they can get a definative diagnosis also. If your doc recommends it I suggest go for the pill cam.

On another note this Predisone is really playing games with my head. I have a short fuse any ways and I feel like I am really on edge.  I am all over the map mentally. This is not fun. I have a lot of folks that work for me and I am scared right now of lashing out at them. I warned my wife and daughter that I might blow but I know that neither will be able to se it is the meds not me if anything happens (they are both great but very sensitive). I guess this is one more case where I will enduldge when I can and suck it up when I can't.

I've never had a Pill cam, my doctor worries that it may get stuck. I'm glad it has worked for you and you can now treat the disease properly. The hardest part is not knowing what you have and getting DX'd.
The Pred is a pretty nasty drug, I call it the Dr Jeckl and Mr Hyde drug. Not my fav but it does work to get the immflamation down. I would let you co-workers know what your on and explain to them you don't mean to lash out at them if it happens.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Dave, I finally got the pill cam done after jumping through all other hoops prior to that.  My DR felt pretty sure, but insurance made us jump through hoops for the dx.  Ditto for me and pred also.  Just warn people ahead of time.  If I start to get grumpy or b***hy I stop and tell people "sorry, meds, not mad at them so on and so forth".  Haven't taken pred for this yet though.

Diagnosed (FINALLY) UC Sept 09/Diagnosis amended 5-3-10 to Crohn's
Taking Pentasa 500mg/8x/day
Entocort 3X/day
Bentyl as needed
1000 mg Vitamin C
Prilosec 1X/day
Flonase
