I know it has been a while. I have been for 3 months now battling with my crohns and getting sick with other things. Back in April when I saw my GI I began with a cold he said it was ok to use my Humira...I ened up with Strep therefore I had to then miss 2 weeks of my Humira. That and being placed on a higher than norm dose of antibiotics made me flare in a bad way. Then the throat got better and was able to use my Humira once again. Then 4 days after finishing my ABs then patches began reforming in my throat but went away on their own within a couple of days. A few weeks back now I called my GI I was in severe pain more trips to the restroom than norm etc to get put on the solumedrol(sp?) dose pack.
The morning I got the call that they called in the meds to my pharmacy I awoke with a sore throat thinking it was from post nasal drip I thought nothing of it. A few days later I had patches in my throat again and was unable to use my humira. I ended up with 2 trips to the hospital for fevers and being unable to eat due to throat pain. They were shocked from the look of it that the strep test was coming back negative. The 1st time i went they Dx it as being oral thrush since when i got there the fever stopped.
They did labwork it was all normal...A few days later the throat was worse and the fever went to 103. The strep again was neg and they informed me again the labwork was all norm. However a few days later when I finally got in to see my norm Dr he said there were slight changed which was suggestive i had a virus. The reason I went to him was they started to Tx me for strep anyway with Augmentin. The next day When I was finally able to get the pills from the Pharmacy (they gave me it IV the night before at the hospital) a few hours after I began breakingout in an itchy rash all over. I called the Dr on call who called in the zpack instead and had me stop the augmentin.
The rash cont to get worse and when I saw my Dr the following day he swore it was Mono, tested me for the epstein bar virus since the mono test they did at the Hops was neg but can take 3 weeks for that 1 to show as Pos..also did a few other viral tests everything but my sed rate was norm that was 61...Still at a loss for what i was sick with and had all symptoms of mono...
Finally I was able to start my Humira again last night but my crohns is in a flare again
