Iam i said.....

L.A s fine ,the sun shines most the tim
And the feeling is 'lay back'
Palm trees grow, and rents are low
But you know I keep thinkin' about
Making my way back

Well I'm New York City born and raised
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores
L.A.'s fine, but it ain't home
New York's home, but it ain't mine no more

"I am," I said
To no one there
An no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am," I cried
"I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely still

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of bein' a king
And then became one
Well except for the names and a few other changes
I you talk about me, the story's the same one

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried, but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone

"I am," I said
To no one there
An no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am," I cried
"I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely still

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Nana Mouskouri

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder
Of a fairy tale
You can take the future
Even if you fail

I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream
I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantaisy
To help me through reality
And my destination
Makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness
Still another mile

I believe in angels
Something good in eveything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream
I have a dream
I'll cross the stream
I have a dream

Oh my gosh Lyn, that song about the two kingdoms is one of my all time favorites!  I can remember singing it in grade school and almost tearing up because it touched me so deep.  I'll go back later to the lyrics (which I haven't seen in a LONG time) and sing it.  :)

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on, now
'Cause there's too many places
I've got to see

But, if I stayed here with you, girl
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird, you'll can not change
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can?t change
Bye, bye, baby it's been a sweet love

Yeah, yeah
Though this feeling I can't change
But please don't take it so badly
'Cause the Lord knows
I'm to blame

But, if I stayed here with you girl
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird, you'll can not change
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

And this bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change
Lord help me, I can't change
Lord I can't change

Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah?
My brother had this on 8 track tape and I listened to it over and over again...

When you're feeling lonely, lost and let down,
Seams like the dark skies are following you around,
And life's just one big shade of gray,
You'll wonder if you'll see the light of day.

Behind the clouds the sun is shining,
Believe me even though you can't quite make it out,
You may not see the silver lining,
But there's a big blue sky waiting just behind the clouds.

I've heard it said that this too shall pass,
Good times or bad times neither one will last,
But thinking that your luck may never change,
Is like thinking it wont ever stop once it starts to rain.

Behind the clouds the sun is shining,
believe me even though you can't quite make it out,
You may not see the silver lining,
But there's a big blue sky waiting just behind the clouds....

A song by Brad Paisley. Yep I'm a country girl, but this song for me has a lot of meaning.

David Houston

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Does anyone remember a song .... ???

Into a tent where a gypsy boy lay
Dying alone at the close of the day ....

... Did he so love me a poor little boy ...

... Send on to me the glad tidings of joy ...

That's all I can remember but I loved that song as a little kid.

Hava neranenah (Let's sing)
Hava neranenah (Let's sing)
Hava neranenah v'nismecha (Let's sing and be happy)

Uru, uru achim! (Awake, awake, brothers!)
Uru achim b'lev sameach (Awake brothers with a happy heart)

Uru achim, uru achim! (Awake, brothers, awake, brothers!)
B'lev sameach (With a happy heart)

Bellafonte made the song popular. Connie Francis did a great job with it.

The Very Thought of You, Billie Holiday.

I don't need your photograph to keep by my bed
Your picture is always in my head
I don't need your portrait, dear, to bring you to mind
For sleeping or waking, dear, I find

The very thought of you and I forget to do
The little ordinary things that everyone ought to do
I'm living in a kind of daydream
I'm happy as a king
And foolish though it may seem
Why to me that's everything

The mere idea of you, the longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
It's just the thought of you
The very thought of you, my love

I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
It's just the thought of you
The very thought of you, my love

--the last two verses ring in my head when I think of my sweetheart. I don't know why I sing this one all the time but I do and it kinda makes me feel better to think of my sweetie.

" You raise me up"
When I'm down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I'm still and wait there in silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains,
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas,
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders,
You raise me up to more than I can be.

There is no life- no life without it's hunger,
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly,
But when you come and I am filled with wonder
Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains,
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas,
I am strong when I am on your shoulders,
You raise me up to more than I can be....
