Forget moon face, I've been on prednisone for long enough now that I look at least 16 weeks pregnant when I suck it in. Bah! Must. Stop. Eating.

It's late, but I just saw your reply and zooooooooom, it flew right over my head. I blame the prednisone (why not?).

And purses too!! (they fit no matter what also) :)

I blame pred for some of my weight gain...myself for some also.

I remember it well, all you have to do is eat one thing and 3 hours later you haven't stopped yet. I described it to friends as--"you know the Cristmas dinner with all the trimmings that get you sooo stuffed all you want to do is lie on the couch and loosen your belt? When on prednisone you immediately want another, even though your stuffed. Thats prednisone." Can you relate?
Male, 55 years old with Crohn's since 15 years old, diagnosed at age 46. Terminal ileum resected 2002. 5 months of remission. Crohn's has now been active since early 2003. Had a gall bladder removed Nov. of 2009. Currently on Remicade every 8 weeks, Nexium, Iron, B-12 injection every 4 weeks,5-asa Asacol, Entocort, Morphine Sulfate as needed for pain. Cymbalta for long term pain control. 5-asa Salofalk,  Imuran and Prednisone in the past.

Grandpato2, I can definitely relate. I was describing it to a friend as having a broken 'full-meter'. No matter how much I eat, I don't feel like I've eaten anything. The worst part is that my 12-year old is in summer camp, so we have all kinds of snacky junk food for his lunches. I think I have eaten more of the potato chips than he has so far.
CD since July 2007 - prenatal vitamins + extra vit. D, vit. C and iron, fish/flax oil, probiotics

Following excellent Omega-3 diet as per James Scala's 'The New Eating Right for the Bad Gut' - got me out of a flare.

Does it stick a round like regular weight or does it disperse easily once off prednisone?

I hate that too!!! Right now still trying to get rid of all my Pred pooch & face... soo hard too, no salad, no fruit, no grains, only bad stuff... it's like a roller coaster, Go on Pred, gain weight, try to lose weight, get a bad flare, lose a lot of weight, go back on pred... I even have a whole set of "pred" clothes, and my "sick clothes" lol

I don't lose pred weight...which is why I'm still in a larger size than I'd like to be.

I do have a friend who loses pred weight just as quickly as she gains it...and I'm SO jealous!

Yeah I was the same way.  I started to think that was what pregnancy cravings would feel like.  I think I ordered Pizza every other day.  The monthly Pizza bill was so high!  And so was my weight.  Thank god I was only on it for like 4 weeks.  Gained like 15 pounds in a month.  One year later... I still have moon face!
Current meds:  Remicade
Tried:  Prednisone, sulfasalzine, lialda, antibiotics, imuran
