Hi out there--I have been on Methotrexate for about four months now and it is really helping with the joint pain, but over the past three weeks, my hair is really falling out. I am so bummed. I have been taking my folic acid religiously. Anyone have this problem and have suggestions for what I might do to stop the hair loss? I am not taking more pharmaceuticals for this, but would be interested in all suggestions.

I heard that you can add Biotin into the mix and this will help slow the hair loss. I tried the Biotin, but it didn't agree with me, but...I am more sensitive to supplements than most. Hugs!

I've also been on mtx about 4 months. I lost a ton of hair over the past couple of years from all the medications (long-term steroid use) and the disease itself. Lately I feel like I've lost even more (not much left to lose!). I also take my folic acid every day as told. I just added biotin and B-12. (total = women's daily vitamin, 1200 mg calcium, 1,000-5,000IU D (depending on the day, I alternate),

I tried Nioxin (shampoo/scalp therapy) and after 6 months gave that up because I was losing more hair. I just started Rogaine, so I'll see in a few months if I can see any new growth. (just started the biotin, too, so I don't know if it's helping, but it can't hurt)

it's so hard to lose so much hair!! Good luck and keep us posted if you find the answer!

Was on it only for 6 weeks. STopped it Due to TPN. 2 together can't be done for septic, infection and liver issues.
