Hi all,

I saw my GI yesterday and he had some labs performed the week before I saw him.  One of the tests was the CRP which was 3, I am perplexed since I have been having severe pain, low grade fevers, more frequent trips to the restroom etc.    He too thinks it is from me having to skip my Humira 2 weeks in a row ( I take it weekly) when I had that throat infection that no one can seem to determine what that was that I had.

If my CRP is in the normal range why is it I am flaring?
Dx with Crohn's 1987, symptoms as early as 1984.

I have not been feeling well myself and just had a BUNCH of tests run for my Crohns and all came back normal. But I still don't feel well. Lots of times it seems to be that way with us. Very frustrating!! Hope you can figure out whats going on. Hugs!

I am in the same boat. In general, I just don't feel as well as I have in the past. Not anything I can put my finger on. I just seem to have more bad days than I did a year ago, or two years ago, or three ..... My labs are running the same as they have. So it isn't a flare per se, just a general up tick in symptoms without any real reason. Or it could be that I am getting older and I don't even want to go there. mad

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

CRP doesn't always elevate during a flare. In fact it only loosely correlates with Crohn's activity, and for some people, it doesn't elevate at all no matter how badly their Crohn's is flaring.

So it's really only a small part of the whole picture of how a person is doing.

My GI lives by the code, "treat to the symptoms not the tests". Which is why I appreciate him so much.

My CrP back when they had me go to a weekly regiment of Humira was 18 so it is making a difference and when I miss doses due to getting sick I notice a huge difference. I was also wondering might the pain be caused by scar tissue...my mother planted that thought in my head today. I did have serious scar tissue pain post op with each surgery (not sure If I had it with the Jan 08 ones) but I know each time they went back in to fix complications they had to keep removing more of my colon due to severe scar tissue.

I have tons of issues with adhesions from my surgeries. When I have a bad gut day, you can be sure my right ribcage area will be killing me too.
