Does anyone currently take this probiotic? Or have you tried it before? Did you prefer the capsules or the mix? I know you can get it OTC at certain pharmacies but it is very expensive. Has anyone been able to get their doctor to write a prescription for the DS version and their insurance pay for it?

I am curious, looking for a little help while I taper the prednisone. My friend who is a pharmacist gets lots of requests for it at her pharmacy. For different problems, but people rave about it even after the cost! She thought it might help me. I did see on their website where they did a clinical trial for UC and it was successful.

Thank you for any input.
Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1998, father has UC we were diagnosed at the same age.

Currently on Prednisone, Sulfasalzine, Probiotic, Flax Oil, Calcium, Magnesium, D3. Just stopped Humira in May after 9 months.

No surgeries so far.

We use the capsules, but alternate them with other brands. I haven't checked lately, but the sachets used to have a filler which could cause problems for some people with IBD. The capsules do not have this filler. Unfortunately, all good probiotics are pricey. Honestly, given the extremely high probiotic count in VSL#3 and the number of beneficial strains, I don't think it's out of line, price-wise.

your not going to get better than VSL #3. I took it for awile and had worsening Diarrhea for a week on 2 caps per day but than i noticed steak was so much easier to digest even when i chewed it more.

easier to chew easier to digest. disgestion starts in the mouth and VSL helps the rest.. going to get more from the office.

I haven't tried it yet, but I may if my current probiotic seems to wear off. I am currently taking fortify by natures way. Before that I took reuteri by natures way.
Feeling the best I have in several years! And it keeps getting better!

4mg LDN at bedtime, 500mg Pentasa 4x/day, 500mg Vitamin C, 1,000 I/U Vitamin D3, 1 Florastor 2x/day, 1 Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri at bed time.
----------------------------------------------
Medication prior to taking LDN: 100 mg Imuran a day (GI wanted 150 mg), 1,000 mg of Pentasa 4x/day, 3 mg of Entocort 3x/day, Librax as needed.
