For the past year I have felt the best I have since I was diagnosed. Now on the one year anniversary of getting a colostomy I seem to be getting sick. My safe foods have slowly been going to my no list. The worst part is that not only has it been making me go but I go so much in so few minutes, literally minutes after I eat something, that the poop goes through my bag. I don't know what to do. I have just been getting my life back on track and don't want to deal with the same thing all over again. Need advice, support, and just to vent.

Search in the window above the following "Healing Well What are your safe foods?" this was a topic late last year and will give you an idea of what some of us eat as safe foods and maybe you'll get some ideas to help you. Sorry your feeling so poorly. Before my only surgury in 2002 I was in your position as well, frequently there were no safe foods or even liquids. Thus the surgury. Hope things go better for you. Perhaps a few or more days of liquids only? Remember to keep up your electrolites and vitamin and minerals, possibly using Boost or Ensure like products to give your system a rest. Rob

I've been told that Colostomies work 'differently' with Crohn's should check out the Ostomies Forum (use 'Quick Jump') and ask some of the posters there.

Is it diarrhea, or quick transit? If it is diarrhea, you may want to be checked for C-Diff (if they don't already) when you have your monthly Labs.
