So i have a question.....when u are going through a flare up or are just getting over one, does it seem like your body's healing process changes? Ive had the same bruise on my thigh for the past three months. Plus, like two weeks ago I cut my knee, the wound isnt deep or anything, but its turning into a very nasty scar. Have any of u experienced this before?

Some crohn's medicines can weaken your ability to heal. Your diet may be lacking in vitamin c and other vitamins that promote healing. There are so many factors that may be at work here, it might be best to mention it to your doc right away. For myself, when I increased vitamin c above 2,000mg. per day, my scratches and scrapes healed in a few days. Before, a minor scrape would take weeks. Your body uses the nutrrients you eat to repair and replace all the cells in the body. Surgery causes your body to call out all the troops to heal and fight infection. That's why it is so important to find out from your doc what you are lacking and put together a plan.

that is a very good answer hldwodrgs! I have a hard time healing because of my severe anemia, plus my crohns & all the medications..

I think the crohn's meds also cause delayed wound healing inside and out.  Then add altered diets, weakened immune systems . . . it's all enough to make my head explode.
