Anyone ever have a Kenalog injection for joint/arthritis or allergies? I'm due to get one next week and I've read some disturbingly scary side effects about it. I'm getting it in my spine, constant back probs. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any stories to share that would comfort me or scare me away from trying this. I've had 3 previous epidural injections before the spinal surgery, and they were awful experiences. Not effective at all.

I have only had cortisone shots, not familiar with this med. Hopefully someone who is will be along soon. Hugs!

I got Kenalog shots in the hip for bad allergy attacks as a kid. Don't remember any side effects, just relief. I hope it goes ok for you having to get them in your spine. Doesn't sound easy.

Kenalog is a steroid and is very similar to getting a cortisone injection, for what that's worth.

My husband will be having his first pain management injection this coming Monday. I'm not sure of the exact name of the steroid they will be using but you can be sure that I will find out.

His MRI wasn't a whole lot of help since he has metal rods in his back to stabilize a fusion of his entire lumbar area so even the pain management doctor has some reservations about whether these injections will help, whether the steroid will be able to move up to the area needing it or not. His will be a caudal block rather than a lumbar block.

He will be given some mild sedation prior to the caudal block. Our neighbor has had a couple of series of 3 pain management blocks and swears they are all that keeps him still able to work. He says that they ALWAYS give some mild sedation prior to doing the blocks.

My computer says I need to upgrade my brain to be compatible with its new software.
