Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself. You could call me Jake. I am from Shanghai, China. I was diagnosed Crohn's Disease in the autumn of 2008, the year I should take the college entrance examination(Somehow like SAT in US.). Then I discontinued my studying for a whole year. Though I entered a college at last, I was still bothered by Crohn's Disease. With time goes by, I am a sophomore now and will be a junior in this fall. However, I found I had an anorectal abscess in April, and I know it very clear that it is a complication of Crohn's Disease. After the surgery and performed a "sitz baths" per day and a damaged tissues healed from the inside toward the skin for a long time, until now. The wound, however, doesn't healed, and the situation has been lasted for about 3 months! Though the doctor told me that he could see the granulation tissues are grown well. But it still cannot healed! At first, the doctor made a pathological section from my wound and the result showed that it was a granulation edema wounds. So I take a treatment that using the concentrated salt water. I went to hospital this morning, the doctor said that the granulation edema does noy exist, but the woung is still not recoverd, and an MRI scan is necessary. If there's anything wrong with the darn wound, another surgery should been taken! The year 2010 is might be the worst year I have ever had! I am gay and after my surgery I went to school and I was TURNED DOWN by a boy! You know I was just expected for some sympathy and he just turned me down directly! Gosh! I am freaking out!
P.S : Thank you for reading it patiently, I know I have made a lot of grammar mistakes. Please, I just need help now.

Hi Jake, and welcome.

Please don't freak out. Abscess wounds can take a long time to heal, especially in Crohn's patients.

Would you be able to tell me a little more about the type of surgery that was done for your abscess? Did they put a piece of string / rubber in it to keep it open, or did they cut it, or did they lance it and drain it?

I'm not sure what you mean by granulation tissues. It sounds like you have more medical knowledge than I do. However, I do suspect it might be a good idea for you to avoid (or at least be careful with) anal sex until your wound heals. You don't want extra trauma down there, or an infection.

You're very welcome here. By the way, if you look at my signature line (below) you will see a link called "dealing with abscesses and fistulae". You might like to have a look at it, and see if you can relate to any of the stories there.

All the very best to you.

Ivy.

Ivy, that's very kind of you, I appreciate your help very much. I will spare no effort to express myself as clear as possible.
I did the surgery in April, it was called drainage of the abscess. They did put a string in it to keep it open after the surgery, and the wound was empty for there is no abscess in it. I cannot make myself any clearer about the granulation tissues, I am sorry please just google it would be fine. I am having no sex at this moment. What I wanna do is just to be healthy. My problem is that I am not sure when could the wound be recoverd! It just take so long that I almost losing my patience.
Thank you very much for replying. It is my fortune to have someone like you here.
May the God Bless You
Jake

Hi Jake, welcome to our forum!

I don't know much about your issues as I have never had surgery for my fistula, but I when I was looking into it, the surgeon did say it would take 6-9 months to heal fully.

Wishing you all the best!
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

Thank you very much. This might be a very useful message. The doctor told me that rugular wounds(Not caused by Crohn's Disease) would just need 2 months to heal completely. Obiviously situation of mine is out of their expectation.

Jake:  Hi, am new to this dz process but everyone has been a great help in understanding, guiding and offering suggestions.  Do you think you are getting pretty good medical care and do you reconize some of the medications that people are given for this disease?  That might be one place to start - just see if there are ways to treat your disease, promote healing through good nutrition and minimize any further harm if possible.  Take care, Barb

Thanks for replying Barb. I am sure I am under a good medical care. about nutrition, well, I have to admit that I didn't eat well at school. Fortunately, it's summer vacation now. My mother has prepared a diet with a lot of fresh fruits, snake head(A kind of fish, which traditional Chinese medical science thinks it could benefit to promoting healing ) and yoghourt. I am now taking medicine as follows:
Sulfasalazine(SASP);Azathioprine;and propolis(Also according to Chinese Medicine, a natual antibiotic).
I have to confess that I know that I am not alone after reading a lot of stories. What I wanna say is that God bless all of us and hopefully, we could all recover soon.
Best wishes. Jake

I do not see in your post any of the medications that most of us here use. I understand that Crohn's is a much rarer disease in Asia. For this reason I would suggest that you be sure you are seeing a specialist who is experienced and knowledgble in the treatment of Crohn's.

It always hurts to be rebuffed by a potential lover regardless of the reason. Perhaps it is a blessing to weed out a shallow person who rejects you for such things. Sometimes people need time to come to understand. Slim comfort now perhaps....

I had a anal fistula many years ago that was cut. They put a gauze/string in it called a wick. I do not recall mine taking so long to heal but I am not gay and did not aggravate it. Be good to your body. Also for healing the wound, would a consultation with a traditional chinese doctor or herbalist help? Hang in there
