Has anyone attempted to use disaccharidase supplementation to digest complex sugars into simple ones? This is in line with Elaine Gotchall's theory about how the SCD works. So maybe you can get SCD results without having to restrict your diet?

Interesting theory, but I have never tried it. Is this something you are currently trying? Or just considering?

People have asked that before at the BTVC yahoo board. They said it won't work, but I don't recall why. Maybe enough food will still remain undigested for the bad bacteria to eat?

I haven't tried this. It's just a theory. I wouldn't even now how to go about getting those enzymes. I agree that it probably wouldn't work as well.

I've tried to the Prozymes from http://www.giprohealth.com/prozymes.aspx .I was hoping they would help me digest some of the legal SCD foods that I can't do (like carrots). They do help some people a lot, but the carrots still came out of me undigested. That's why I'm leery that they would be all that helpful with non-SCD foods.

The goal of the SCD is to bring your digestive system back into a healthy balance. It does this by starving out the bad fungus, yeasts, and bacteria in your intestines and increasing the good bacteria with the SCD yogurt. Once this balance is restored, so is proper digestion.

I definitely believe in adding a good liquid acidophilus supplement to further boost the increase in good bacteria, and also a good anti-yeast supplement like Candidastat, Caprylic Acid, or Olive Leaf Extract which helps to kill off the fungus and yeast. Both help to supercharge the SCD and results should be a lot quicker. I still occasionally take both for maintenance purposes. I've also taken digestive enzymes with my meals which help also.
