Anybody ever have giardia? If so, how does it compare to Crohn's? I've never had it, but known others who have. Even though it seemed bad, I think Crohn's is worse, way worse, even if you don't count the extraintestinal symptoms.

Nope, thank goodness I've never had giardia. But we have encountered it in young puppies. And it CAN kill them. Diarrhea was the most obvious symptom. Had one or two adult dogs that got giardia too. Again diarrhea - and severe weight loss. Can be difficult to find in stool samples. Doggone things look like monkey smiley faces under the microscope when you can find them. Easily treated - w/flagyl if I remember correctly. Or sulfa. Its been so many years now I'm not sure that I remember which med we used to treat with.

Who's keeping score?

My mom had giardia at age 63 and it made her really, really sick. Then she took Flagyl and got better.

I wish there was a med to take so I could get better and never have to deal with Crohn's again.
