last week, we had a scare. my boy got shakey, then pukey, then the D hit. our first thought... FLARE!!. nope. within a couple of days, he was back to normal, or normal for him. still up nine pounds from January, and still unmedicated. we forgot that he can get a bug and all that goes with it, just like anyone else. anything happens, we just circle the wagons and hover over him.

I know - it's funny how we go into "it must be a flare" mode. There's so many other things that we can get like a little bug, but once you have an illness or a loved one with an illness it's the first thing that comes to your mind. I'm so glad your kiddo was back to himself after a few days. You sound like a great parent!

Thanks Stef

My wife is the great parent. I'm just the one with big shoulders, and the ability to drive anywhere to try something. we are luckier than some. Since his diagnosis in March '06 he has had one fistula. he has growth issues. energy is good, BMs are good, and pain is rare. he takes responsibility for his condition, and watches his triggers

My boy is a rock too. about once a season he has a melt down, and we just let him rage. then commitment sets in again and we chase the cure, what ever it may be. We just got a prescription for LDN, but are holding it in reserve.

*sigh*

Thirteen is young to have to deal with Crohn's let alone complications like fistulas. :-(.

I'm glad he's recovering from the bug.

You are so right Ivy. He was barely 9 when diagnosed, and 11 when he got the fistula. he is the toughest kid I know. He's my hero.
