I was diagnosed with Crohns last July after having sever stomach pain, bloating, joint pain, bloody stools and more.  I was started on Pentaza and Prednisone.  I also take Folic Acid, Fish Oil and other supplements.  When I was on the steroids, I felt better that I have in 10yrs, but after getting off I have slipped back to the same old thing.  My flares aren't terrible, but I do suffer from frequent bloody stools and the thing the bothers me most of all, very severe and LOUD stomach noise.  Tomorrow I meet with my GI to discuss staying the course or moving to a biological med, like Remicade.  Has anyone had sucess with Remicade getting rid of the bloody stools and loud stomach noises?

I am only on my loading dose (third due middle of August) but it seems to have made the stoamch noise worse. I have never had blood but had frequent loose stools. This so far hasn't made much difference and I have more pain, not more severe but more frequent. I do have stricures so maybe that has something to do with it. Early days yet it hasn't really had much of a chance to do its thing. Lots of people on here will say it was the best drug for them, everyone is different. Hope all goes well for you.

Remicade put me into remission for 2 years - controlled the bleeding, stomach noises, pain, etc. It takes a while for it to kick in. I think it was my third loading dose when I noticed a difference. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments!  I am still on the fence as to if I want to give Remicade a shot.  Is it covered by most insuance companies...maybe a question for my Dr.  I just want something to help me feel like I was on the high dose of steroids and to ease the loud stomach noises!

My Remicade was covered once I met deductible and out of pocket - just as my other doctor's appointments and treatments. Actually, I think it was covered a little better (it's been a while) since it is an in-office infusion treatment as opposed to Rx that you get at the pharmacy,

I just met with my GI and am starting the process of perparing to start Remicade. I need to have a TB skin test and then Remicade will work with my insuance co. and let me know how much it will cost on an annual basis. I just hope it is the right decision.

i'm on my third dose as well, it makes my flares not as bad and not as long lasting, but it is for me not a miracle drug for sure. I also have cd in my throat, that has helped a little, easier to swallow, also on my 2nd dose the next day my arms were itching and have been only at night. and where they hooked up IV the vein was really swollen for a couple of days, I have to see gi before my 3rd dose. a little concerned about veins and itching. I'm on remistart program, they pay your copay, so ea. injection costs $50. you have to get form from dr.
