I have been on Humira since the beginning of April. Did my first 4 loading doses and then the next 2 two weeks later. Within the first week after the loading doses, the D had went down considerably and and I really thought it was helping.
I am now doing 1 dose every 2 weeks on Fridays. By Monday, the D is better, very little cramping and gassy bloated feeling. By the following Monday, my symptoms have returned and I am miserable for the next week until I have the shot and it kicks in.
For those taking it bi-weekly, do you go thru this too? Is this normal? It doesn't really bother me because I am so used to dealing with symptoms that I start taking Immodium for the week that it's bad, so that helps.
For those taking it weekly, what made your Dr decide to put you on every week? Was it because, like me, bi-weekly wasn't controlling your symptoms?
I'm thinking I'm going to talk to the Dr about weekly injections. If it helps me for the week after the injection, I'm thinking having it weekly will stop the excessive D. My only concern is that my joints have become increasingly stiff since being on the Humira. What will happen if I double the dose? I have a family to take care of and a job that I need to maintain to have the insurance that pays for the Humira. I feel like I'm caught in a catch 22. There are some days I'm so stiff getting up that it takes all my energy to get up, get ready, and get in to work. I'm already exhausted and the day is just starting.
(That last part is just me venting...ignore it)
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

i'm on the weekly Humira shot with 100mg of Immuran.

i dont see it as a catch 22. i think your joints will be better once you go to the weekly shots. Reum Arthritis is also treated with Humira...

yes, just tell your doctor your symtoms come back.

Humira doesn't work the whole 2 weeks for me either but apparently my doctors are the only two in the world who can't get it approved weekly.  Humira is also used for RA, but if your joint pain is worse since being on the Humira, you could be having medication induced lupus.  You need to mention this to your doctor because yes, if the Humira IS what's causing the joint pain, uping the dose will only make it worse.
