Since the surgery I have been feeling more and more like my Crohns is acting up.  Its been almost 4 weeks since the surgery and I still feel pretty yucky.  I decided to put myself on a quick 10 day burst of Pred to see if that helps.  When I was in the hospital this time they did find some inflammation in the left side of my colon.  They were saying it could be the Crohns or just from the surgery.  But I don't seem to be suffering what I consider surgical problems, so I am hoping that the Pred will help me to get back onto the right track.  I normally suffer with constipation and have to take stool softners nightly, but have been having 4-6 softer stools each day and thats without stool softners and having some nausea.  So to me at least, that is pointing more to Crohns.  Keep your fingers crossed that the Pred gets me feeling better and stronger.  Had to extend my disability by two weeks, as I was supposed to go back to work on Aug 5th, but there is no way thats going to happen.  Thanks for your continued prayers and well wishes.  Hugs to all!

The Pred seems to be helping as I feel a little better today. We usually do laundry today, so I may try to go with my husband to see if I can get out of the house for a bit. I will keep hoping that I continue to improve as this has been a VERY LONG month for me. I just want to get back to the old me. I think being able to sleep on my sides a little more is helping too. I sure am sleeping alot. I take a nap during the day and even sleep about 10 hours a night. I guess my body really needs the rest. I am usually a 7 hour a night person. Thanks for all your good wishes they mean the world to me. I love you all alot.

Hugs

Be aware that pred might slow down healing. Not sure if it's the best idea for you to have put yourself back on it right now, Nanners, but of course I could be wrong.

Can you phone your doctor for advice?

And I agree with Navy - sleep can work wonders, though I know it's hard with fibro :-(.

All the best, Nanners.

So far the Pred seems to be helping some. I was able to get up and get dressed yesterday and even went out and walked in Walmart for a bit and out to eat something. So I think it is definetely doing some good. Ivy, my incisions are healed so no worries there. My problem was I was suffering with alot of Crohns like symptoms and this has definetly slowed them down. I have a wonderful relationship with my GI and he knows that after 35 years with this disease I usually know my body pretty well.

The one problem I have everyday is I am sleeping on my sides a little more and when I first wake up I have to sit up for about an hour to let everything settle down. What sucks is that before the surgery I could pretty much only sleep on my left side, and of course this surgery was on my left side, so that has a little settling in still to do. Thanks for your continued well wishes, they are SOOOO appreciated. I can't wait to feel close to 100% again.

Hugs

Gail... I just logged for the first time in a while and saw this. I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through, but so glad that it seems to be going well. You are such a caring, loving, informative part of this forum (and probably outside this forum!), and are in my thoughts and prayers. Best to you and yours... hope you are back feeling like your usual self soon...

This pain in my left side is getting so old. I wake up with this pain and its so freaking hard to get rid of it. I did email my surgeon today to see if this is a side effect of the surgery or what. Its kinda like trapped air in a way, but also a thru and thru pain my below my left ribcage thru to my back. If I could get rid of this pain, I think I could really begin a full healing. But this day to day pain is quite wearing on my spirits, so prayers for pain relief and my spirits are appreciated. Thanks as always for your well wishes. My Crohns family are truly lifesavers in times like this. Love to you all!

I did get out for a bit yesterday, and the walking seemed to help a little. I think I may have figured out the problem...I think I have been a little too light with my pain meds. Yesterday, instead of only taking 1/2 of my Percoset I use for my chronic pain, I took a whole one and that seemed to help alot more. And I only took two whole tabs during the day. So today I am going to try taking a whole tab in the morning and see if the results are the same. Also, a friend made me laugh yesterday, she said I need to remember as you get older it takes a little longer to recover and I think thats kinda true too. LOL

Nanners,
Just fyi, it takes me about about a year to fully recover from getting cut on. Especially when it involves major muscle groups. So I think get out to wal-mart this soon is pretty good.

Thanks Navy! Today I am going to try to go walk about the mall a little. I know I may not get far, but I have to try to build my strength back up. I am as weak as baby these days.

And speaking of babies, my new granddaughter Bailey Michaela FINALLY got to go home with Mommy today. Life is pretty good right now. I wish I knew how to post a pic, she is sooo freaking cute! Of course, I am the proud grandma and a little partial. LOL
