Boy was that an interesting test.  If it wasn't for the prep the dr required it really would have been easy.  (except try wearing those stickers/harness around all day in the desert..it was about 109 yesterday!)  But I just stayed inside for the most part.  Anyway..I hope it gives me some answers without any really bad news.  Im in that state of wanting there to be something just to justify all the diarrhea/pain and fistula I had last year etc..  But also do not want a chronic illness.  All other tests thus far haven't shown much (colonoscopy, barium SBFT, blood work..except something that could indicate Celiac, but not for sure...)  Anyway, back to wait mode...you all know how that is...

If anyone has questions about the Pill Cam test..ask away.  It was kind of an interesting thing to do.  I'm still waiting for Pill to show up....lol.

Hey Mom,

Its so funny with the pillcam test, you hear some folks have to do a prep and others don't. I even read on the pill cam site they say no need to prep, but some docs (including mine) require it. I have not had one yet, but my GI has been discussing it of late. I can't do cscopes as my colon on the left side is adherred by adhesions to my body cavity and they are afraid to perforate me. Thanks for telling us your experience with it, I have been wondering how that test process was.

I do hope though that it finally provides you some answers as to why you are feeling so bad. Sounds like Crohns to me (sorry), and although no one wants to have a chronic lifelong illness, it is nice to finally have some answers. Keep us posted on the results.

Hugs

Sorry your doctor had you take the prep. I've never had to take the prep for the capsule endoscopy guess I'm a lucky one? This test is the one that showed I did infact have Crohn's Disease. The colonoscopy did show stuff but the capsule showed a lot more. I SBFT didn't show anything and I think that is the worst prep ever. Cannot stand the barium. Well best of luck to you and hopefully this test shows some answers for you and your Dr.

Huh, I had to get prepped, but only in the form of fasting and not drinking anything  8 hours prior.  But we did also see some food in one pic.  I hope your results are what you want.  At least you will have some answers.

mom-who-hurts, the capsule endoscopy is what diagnosed my Crohn's.  8 years of test after test showed nothing major until we did the capsule endoscopy.  I was just glad to finally know what it was...even if it was a chronic illness...and start the proper treatment.  I hope you get some answers from it.  Oh, and I never saw the pillcam come back out, just assumed it did after a week or so.  =)

The cam probably came out the same day and wasn't realized, would be my guess.  If you get a chance to see your results report you should see what your transit times are in each area of your system.

I did the pill cam (a few years ago) on a Thursday and the camera didn't come out until Sunday night. The weird part is that I had D the whole time and the other things I ate after the pill cam came out shortly after I ate them.

My test was Friday and Camera came out on Sunday.  And like someone else said, other foods came out before the pill that I ingested after the pill...wierd.
