Hey all,

I was just diagnosed with Crohn's last Tuesday, so I'm really new to this.  And I'm only on day 4 of my meds (prednisone and asacol).  But so far I'm feeling a lot better, the horrible inflammation pain in my shins and ankles is gone!  Still have some cramping and D a few minutes after I eat anything, but it's tolerable.  So yesterday I woke up feeling really good, and had myself a little cup of coffee.  Whoa!!!!  Guess I should have done a little more research on drug interractions!  I was speeding like a crazy woman.  Scrubbed the entire bathroom, mopped all the floors, washed my car and vacuumed the whole house.  I haven't done that much work since I got sick over 3 months ago!  It was nice to accomplish so much, but I sure felt weird.  Like I couldn't even make myself sit still for more than a few minutes.  And by about 8:00 I was so ready to crash.  So I guess this is the start of me knowing what I can and cannot tolerate!

The adventure continues.....

Hey Lori and welcome to Healingwells Crohns forum. Yeah Pred by itself can give you crazy energy then adding in caffiene look out. Most of us have some issues with caffiene. I can have a little, but too much can upset my stomach.

Hugs!

Nanners is right, the Predisone will do that to you.  I felt that way for about 3 weeks after starting Prednisone.  I've went for days without sleep while I was on it.

Haha GDen! I'm only half kidding when I say that I was ready to go door to door to ask the neighbors what they needed done! I've heard so much about weight gain with Pred - wonder how that can happen when you're constantly moving!

Hi Lori, welcome to HW! I get like that on Pred also. My whole house was clean constantly, and with 4 teenage boys, that was a miracle in itself! I cleaned closets I hadn't seen the back of in years, and I tackled hubby's garage which drove him nuts because of all the "do you really need this?" He complained for a month until he found where I had stashed all his odds and ends in his 'mancave'.
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, Glucosamine, D3, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!
