I just want to let you know I completley understand being overwhelmed by all the side effects these med's have. Honestly, when my GI first gave them to me I really wasn't awake...and after waking up seeing an IV in me...well, I felt like the decision was made for me. It was..by my husband!
A few months later I was angry about not really having a choice. I commend you for thinking it out before you do it. Sometimes this time does make things worse though. After so many choices get taken away from us Crohnies we need time to "digest" the whole disease!
Now, I realize that it was for the best! There are many many people on these med's and Imuran really is one of the oldest and most tested ones. There is no cure for Crohns but it can be managed. Good Luck to you...and yes it takes awhile for it to kick in. I was sick at first...nausea, and bloated...that went away after about 4 months.
