I had a colonoscopy this morning and the GI found that my Chrohn's was active in the same area I had surgery on two years ago.  I have had many colonscopies to date and have never experienced any pain afterward.  However, I started to get cramps shortly after I arrived home and it gradually got much more painful as the day went on.  I called my GI and he said that the pain may just be from the exam and he wasn't concerned, since it went very smoothly.  He prescribed bentyl which I took and didn't really notice much of a difference in the pain.  Luckily I have some percocet left from a previous prescription, and I took one hoping to get a good night's sleep.

Although I do have pain on and off, it hasn't been this bad for quite a while.  Hope this isn't the start of another terrible flare.  Has anyone had this experience?  Thanks in advance for any responses.

Are you still having pain? Are you running a fever?

Don't mess around with pain post colonoscopy...if you are still in pain have it checked out. If it's really bad go to the ER!

Thanks for responding to my post.  The pain is a little better today.  I have no fever or chills.  If anything gets worse, will definitely check it out.  Just concerned because I've never experienced this before.

I always am crampy for a couple of days after everytime I have a cscope. Very normal. Its from the air the put up there and the irritation of the prep. Hugs!

Thanks Nanners. I wouldn't mind if it was just cramps I was having. But I'm actually feeling the pain that I used to feel when my CD was active. Although I've had pain on and off previous to my Colonoscopy, I'm experiencing the same pain I had before my surgery two years ago (it's a very distinct kind of pain). I know the GI found lots of inflammation, but I just hope that this pain is just from the scope. Also, my bowels never really settled down and I've always had urgent-bathroom issues, but now I'm having completely liquid stools. Just don't feel this is normal for me after a colonoscopy. Expected the gas, which passed quickly, but not this pain. Never happened with all my other colonoscopies. Sorry for the long-story. Just worried that something went wrong (although my GI feels that everything went smoothly during the scope), or I'm in for another bad flare.
