My daughter was prescribed Keflex for a skin infection.

If you have had Keflex prescribed for a skin infection, did it make your Crohn's better or worse?

I've taken Keflex multiple times for sinus issues, around 2003, 2004, 2005. If I remember correctly, I got a little bit of diarrhea from it, but nothing bad, and I returned to normal within a couple days of finishing the Keflex. I've had to take probably 15 different antibiotics for sinus infections and it was one of the best in terms of not exacerbating Crohn's. Of course, your daughter's experience might be totally different....

Keflex is one of the antibiotics that gives me little to NO side effects. Hugs!

I absolutely cannot take Keflex! It makes me sooooo sick and I stay that way for months so be careful. Make sure you take probiotics.

I have taken keflex multiple time for foliculitis or staph skin infections. Ever since I started on remicade I have had a problem with skin infections and have tried nearly every antibiotic known to man to see which one will not hurt my stomach. Keflex was probably one of the easier ones but it still gave me issues. Make sure that she eats a full meal before taking it and drinks a lot of water. Also, it may not be a bad idea to talk to your doctor about something for nausea and stomach cramping. These are medications you should probably have on hand regardless but are a must when on antibiotics.
On a side note I have found that if she is having folluculitis problems I recommend an antibiotic shot called rocephin. I had some of my folliculitis turn into a boils and one that abscessed and turned into MRSA. Along with vancomyocin I started getting rocephin shots and found that the rocephin actually cleared up my folliculits. I thought that it may have been the combination but had another shot the next time I got another infection and it cleared it right up. I had been battling that stuff for 6 years.
