I have a strange and embarrassing question for the ladies. I have noticed that after I eat as soon as I get up, I start passing gas from my vagina. Has this happened to anyone else? Any input would be appreciated.

Harley: I think this is from fistula development, would call and leave a message with your GI doc. Take care. Barb
Meds: Celebrex, Omeprazole, Liadla, Entocort EC 9mg/day, Vit D, Mulitvit, Omega 3's, Ambian, Neurontin.

Yes, I usually use the bathroom before I eat. Barb, do you have any more info about a fistula? Because earlier right after I ate I walked to my car and before I could stop it.....I had feces coming out of my vagina....IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!

Clearly a fistula! I hope you will call your GI in the morning.

It's a fistula.  Call your GI in the morning and set up and appointment.  Goodluck!

I have a fistula that tracks to my vagina also. I usually only pass air (gas) thru it, but have passed feces while trying to hold a BM long enough to get to a bathroom. Call your Dr and tell them what you have told us. They have never found mine, and since I rarely have trouble, I'm not too worried, but it is better to get it checked. Good luck to you!
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, Glucosamine, D3, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

OMG! I didn't know that could even happen! Are there warning signs? Shouldn't that be painful?

I have never had any warning signs that it was coming on. One day I was out at a store, felt the 'urgency' to go, and was trying to cross my legs, breathe deep, etc, and hope the urgency passed long enough for me to get to the bathroom. All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in the vaginal area and felt the feces come out. I got to the bathroom and cleaned up as best as I could. The first time it happened was about 14 years ago. I told both my GI and my Gyno, neither could find it and I know they thought I was making it up or had an accident and just thought it came out of my vagina. I KNEW I wasn't imagining it! I pretty much let it go and didn't bring it up again because as I said, I rarely pass feces through it, only gas. My GI and Gyno now both know about it, but as I said, have never been able to find it. I don't have any pain or drainage with it so it doesn't bother me. The anal fistula I have bothers me a lot more, but I think that is because when I wipe, I have no choice but to wipe that also, so it becomes irritated a lot more.

Harley:  Certainly a fistula, when you think about Crohn's disease-it's gut wall lining irritation and crohnic inflamation that progresses and tunnels through all of the intestinal wall layers.  As for treatment, outcomes, expectations, management - that all is best coming from your doc.  Hopefully you have someone with whom you have developed a trusting and therapuetic relationship with that can help you through this process.  Here is a pretty good discussion regarding this topic.  Barb
