confused
Hello everyone I'm hoping that one of you out there can help me !!! What am difference a few hours make!!!
All you regulars on here know that I was in a very witty mood yesterday and feeling a lot better than the last three weeks, so I decided to go out with my lovely dog, coco.
We went to a local event and I only went out for just over two hours. Anyway far forward a few hours and my knee is absolutely killing me.!!!!

I've been awake on and off through the night were it is all swollen around the actual knee joint and it's literally pulsing with pain !!!! Ouch !!! shakehead

I'm sat here with ice on it,i've got it elevated, I rubbed like deep heat gel on it, but it's the ice cool version on it, and iv taken a tramadol as I can vaguely remember being told that you can't take any anti inflammatory meeds. Is this true ???

My question is is this another sign of my crohns ? Only I had really bad joint pain and uvie*** last summer. This is when they started to investigate me for crohns.
Please feel free to post some advice for me, iv been in tears on and off with it, as soon as I stand up to something it's really throbs!!!

And also I don't know wether I mentioned before, I also suffer with piolonidal and fistulas and my booty is swollen and it feels like something's going on down there!!!!

Thanks guys I'd really appreciate some advice, and if there are some pain relieve I'm safe to take !!!
All this just because I went out for two hours !!!! Lol !!!! redface

Obviously talking to your doc about it is foregone.

For relief its blood circulation that you need, if you have aneimia because of the crohn's you need to get on top of that, if its just a circulation issue the most likely place its getting blocked is in your lower back/pelvis, the knee needs the blood thats why its screaming but the block isnt necessarily at your knee but further up.

Painkillers suck, go old school and have a hot bath with your feet and hands out of the water. Your midsection becoming hot will cause the blood to rush to your extremeties, thats why you keep your feet and hands out of the water, otherwise the only place for it to go is your head.

But then I always hated painkillers and thought they did a poor job anyway.

I know its counter-intuitive to think the pain in your knee is caused by some other place in your body, but thats been my experience.

Anti-inflammatory meds makes crohn's worse, which is why you should stay clear of them.

It could be other things, which is why the Doc is a must as always.

Thanks sirokinsalot
Iv got an appt with my gi Tuesday, I think that I will follow your advice, iv got a heat patch on my knee, should I place it on my abdo area after the bath ??

Iv just tried to get to the loo!!! Oh my god it really painful !!! All my knee is swollen, even around the back and I can't straighten it at all !!!

Well I'm gonna go and try the bath now, fingers crossed it will help relieve it. When I'm led on the sofa it's less painful, it's like it's pulsing!! And it's hot !! Even before the heat pad went on !!!

Again thank you, I hope your doing ok yourself today, x

Its been awhile since Ive had hot swollen joints but when I was a kid my mum would wrap a vinegar soaked towel around the joint and it seemed to suck out the heat and dull the pain, I used that technique well into my 20s along with the hot bath thing and got more relief from that than any painkillers.

For me the heat and swelling would only go away for a long period after the Doc would inject the site with steroids, but then that was done because I had a diagnosis of RA... well technically I still do lol but thats neither here nor there.

Hope you find your relief, its pretty cool that the Doc comes to see you.

Worst comes to worst you could always take the advice my podiatrist gave me when i was 15, he said "maybe we should consider just cutting off your feet"... he was joking of course, after months of therapy with him there was that level of friendly banter, though there were times when I thought maybe the idea wasnt so crazy after all hehe
