So winter is coming and I think I will get every flu that is going around.

this is my third winter on Remicade/Humira.
First I lived at my in-laws and they are a doctor and a nurse so they meet lots of sick people and carried it all back to me.
Last winter I was home alone and did not have much contact with sick people so it went great.

This winter I am back in school lots of germs and my hubby is also in school and playing basketball jibby for me.

I have been sick now for a whole week now and not getting better :(
I guess this winter will be school one week and sick the next..

when i was on remicade i didn't get sick more than usual, but i think started eating a lot better concurrently so that probably offered me some protection
try to get enough sleep and eat plenty of fresh fruits/vegetables
if being on remicade really bothers you, investigate ways to get off of it. I got off of it because I was uncomfortable with the potential side effects.
Crohn's diagnosed 6/08
Organic SCD since 4/09
Remicade from 6/09 to 4/10
Low-dose naltrexone since 7/5/10
Boswellia + Natren's Healthy Trinity probiotic + Cinnamon + Wild Oregano Oil + vitamin D

I am on Humira now got allergic reaction to Remicade.

I sleep way more than most people I know and eat healthy.
I have no way of going off the Humira unless getting really sick fast.
Thats what happened when I went off Remicade and had to wait 12 weeks to start on Humira.

I try to skip sugar and wheat.

Do you get a flu shot? I talked to my GI and an infection control doctor and they said I should, and the worst that could happen is my body "ignores" the shot. At the worst it does nothing, but at the best keeps me from getting the flu.

I have hand sanitizer on my keyring and use it in public places. They make it easy to carry the stuff with you now!

L_A_B-did you know that sinus infections are actually a side effect from Humira? I get them all the time...and I hate them. I started using a sinus rinse and it helps a lot. I don't get them as often as I did before using the sinus rinse.

I will definetly be getting a flu shot again this year as I don't want to go thru that along with my Crohns. I also am a big fan of hand sanitizer, and at least twice a week, I go thru and spray all the printers, copiers, door knobs etc that are used around my area by alot of folks. It helped me last year, as I didn't get sick at all. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

I didn't know they caused that, lol.
I guess the 6MP is causing them this time around, I got them all the time on Remicaide, and Humira, and now I still get them. Before being on all these meds I never got anything, so i KNOW it has to be the meds messing with my immune system : /
and OJ gives me heatburn :(

This is no my 4th day of this flu.
Think I will go to school tomorrow, short day only 4 hours.

The problem is I cant go to sleep hehe.
Have runny nose, dry eyes, fever, and a sore throat.
And cant stop thinking about that after one week I have to give myself another shot of Humira..

My dogs are getting restless of the lack of long walks.

I just hate how you sometimes get so frustrated about this whole situation.
Its ok to be sick when you are on disability and donĀ“t have to work or go to school but it totally sucks when there is someplace you have to be.

I just want to stop this whole thing and go back to normal.
Plus my joint hurt more than anything I can barley bend my arms.

On the up side my tummy is fine, thats ironic sine its my tummy who is causing all the trouble to begin with.

Well I am off to bed going to solve sudoku on my DS..

And I will definitely try the hand sanitizer

isergodur the trick with hand sanitizers is to use them more than you think you should. Anytime you've finished handling money for instance. After handling or touching anything others touch alot, public phones, doornobs, bathroom doors even though you washed your hands, if you touched the door leaving use it. I don't know about Iceland but here in Canada about 50% of men don't wash their hands after using a bathroom, can't speak for our women. Elevator buttons, anything children handle, you get the idea. good luck Rob
