Yes, lest we not forget, not only those who died, but also those principles upon which the United States of America was founded upon.

To quote Thomas Jefferson: "[N]o man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities."

It might just be a beer commerical, but I still think it is pretty well expresses my thoughts.

I watched that commercial a week or so back, it was so poignant, that it gave me goose bumps. Those
Clydesdales said it all without saying one word!!

I will never forget the patriotism that was felt on that day despite the grief and sorrow that our country and the world was going through. Despite not living in New York, a co worker of mine lost his mother and Grandmother on the flight that hit the Pentagon. His mother had just retired from the company that I worked with and had just dropped her daughter off to her first year at college. I saw him grieve and his family suffer and it really hit home what had happened.
This day hopefully will be a bipartisan day of rememberance and patriotism of the American spirit. It is also a day that should be recognized and remembered for the strength of the human spirit and how people came together. I will never forget the images that I saw on television during and after of those policeman, fireman, and emergency workers running into the buildings and sacrificing themselves in an attempt to save others. Their unselfishness has been something that has touched me and many others. I pray that our children will remember the rescue and fight as a defining point in our country. We need to remember this day because it is the Pearl Harbor of our generation.
