Several months ago I went in for a CT scan, and the results showed mild renal atrophy. I talked with my friend who is a nurse (geriatrics), and she said that it seems as if there's a correlation between Miralax usage and renal failure in elderly patients. I have a chronic constipation problem that requires me to use Miralax at least 2x daily and weekly/bi-weekly Miralax purges. I have periodic back pains, in the same position where my kidneys are located.

Has anyone else heard of or have had kidney problems when using Miralax (poly-ethylene-glycol; PEG)?

My GI told me that they removed Visacol and Osmo prep off the market since they caused kidney issues and that is why they now use Miralax for scope preps...have my 238g bottle awaiting tomorrow...I do have kidney stones which were found before I ever used Miralax and some kinds of kidney stones can be related to CD. There is more info on that on the ccfa.org site as for hearing anything like that about miralax no I have yet t hear that

I have not heard that of Miralax either. But I tell you I use stool softners nightly and have for quite some time, and they gently and without using a laxative, get the stool out of me. Good luck!
