I saw this today and thought it might be of interest to some of you here:

Counterfeit Prescription Drugs a Growing Threat (VIDEO)

I don't know how big a problem it is, but I'd keep it in mind when buying drugs, especially online. It pays to know where the drugs are manufactured.

I know of a lot of seniors that cross the southern border a couple times a year to get their medications. Not only is it not legal, they are really in danger of this same subject that you are talking about. Who knows if that pharmacy is legitimate or if their manufacturing company is making the proper mixtures. There was a story I watched either last year or the year before about a company in China that was doing the same thing and basically selling vitamin capsules labeled as medication. I am hesitant to use anything but major pharmacies because of this.

Well it certainly is a big issue which I've brought up on this forum a few times since I know many people here are forced to get prescriptions filled due to inadequate health care coverage in the USA.  Unfortunately the last time I did I got flamed by someone so I don't mention it anymore, but thanks for the link.

Dan Rather on HuffPo -- journalism doesn't get much more sensationalistic than that! Minimize your risks by buying from reputable local pharmacies, or use sites like pharmacychecker.com to vet online pharmacies and buy from better regulated countries like Canada. Also do an Internet search on prospective pharmacies -- there was one online pharmacy recently convicted of selling fake drugs, but a search revealed a decade of related stories, it was ranked poorly, and had numerous other red flags. Drugs in Canada and Mexico are cheaper because they have more lenient generic laws, and also force drug companies to sell to them at much cheaper prices. I know many other Americans who've bought drugs online from Canada and never had any problems.

Many online Canadian pharmacies sell drugs which they've imported from third world countries.

That;s probably what big US pharma WANTS you to think..and can you blame them? Some of the price differences are enormous!
Canada has very, very strict drug quality control regulations and if I were you I would not give it a second thought.

I'm sure Mexico has reputable pharmacies, and less-so pharmacies. I am unfamiliar with their drug Q control standards though but would hazard a guess they are more lenient than here in Canada, and in the U.S.
