I was just wondering everyone else's thoughts on this. I do admit, when I had one in April, the Miralax is a hell of a lot better than that disgusting stuff I used to have to drink for colonoscopies. However, people act like it's completely tasteless and all good and fine, but for me it was still pretty gross. Better, yes, but it made the drink so thick. Last time I mixed it with Diet Snapple and I still don't drink it anymore 'cause it makes me think of that. I think I ended up drinking only less than half of what I was supposed to, but it went fine. Hopefully I'll be able to do the all the prep this time around (tomorrow is prep day.)
Anyways...I'm thinking of mixing it with Gatorade this time around. I only really like the orange flavor, but I don't want to ruin orange for me, so I'm thinking of mixing it with either lemon-lime or some blue flavor.
For those that use Miralax for the colonoscopy, what drink do you find works best?

I agree, even though there really is no taste it is very hard for me to get down!!! I tend to mix it up a little and use water with one glass, juice with the next glass, maybe crystal light the next glass. For me just getting down that much fluid down is tough!!!

Tonight will be the first time I've had the miralax prep before and I bought orange gatorade for it. But, I've already learned this morning that regular gatorade has way too much sugar for me and I've been having very bad stomach spasms. So, my husband will be going to the store for some G2 instead (has less sugar, I just couldn't find any that wasn't purple or red when I looked at the grocery on Saturday). I also made up a pitcher of tea, but I'm with you...I'm afraid I'll never want to drink tea again if I use it. So, I think I'll just drink it as part of the liquid diet and use the gatorade for the prep....I never drink gatorade, so I'm not worried about
associating it with prep and not ever wanting to drink it again. =)
Good luck! I hope it goes well for both of us!

I use lemonade!! just ran it through a coffee filter to be extra careful -- but honestly, the last time I skipped the filter LOL.
It tasted fine! Other ideas if you're worried about
acidity -- weak peppermint tea? I super hate gatorade so I never tried it with anything else but lemonade.

I used Gatorade and G2. I got a few different flavors and made a few small batches so that I kept switching it up. I think that helped because the flavor kept changing. I liked G2 better.

I don't think you should use peppermint tea in that large of an amount. I do love peppermint tea for nausea and slowing my colon down but in high doses I don't think it would be good for this. Peppermint tea is considered a natural antispasmodic to help with D, since you are drinking a laxative not sure drinking a large quantity would be good. And large amounts of peppermint oil/tea have side effects of cramping, D, and heartburn.

When I had mine last Sept I used blue gatorade. Was told it couldn't be certain colors and blue was one it could be. I mixed it put in the fridge to get cold again then an hour or so later started drinking. Was a little thick and could taste just a little but wasn't bad at all. Your best bet isn't to drink it all at once. I poured the gatorade and mirilax into a pitcher. Let it sit for a bit and when time to drink once it was cold I would pour myself 8oz glasses every 15-20min. Made it 10x easier and wasn't drinking a ton at once. If you are using enough mirilax you shouldn't have cramps. That's what I was told. I did a think of mirilax and 2 dulcolax and had no cramps at all. Good luck!!

Thanks :) Yeah, I'm the same way, I never drink gatorade (just the orange flavor when I'm sick) so I don't mind if I can't drink it after this. It's weird, 'cause Miralax doesn't particularly have a taste or flavor but it still makes it taste gross 'cause its so thick...But I'm weird like that with the consistancy of things I guess...
Lemonade sounds like a good idea...I bought some as one of my liquids just to drink but my mom thought it didn't look like a "clear liquid" ....It's a natural lemonade...so I don't know if it would have pulp or anything? But then again, I enjoy lemonade so I don't know if I want to do the miralax with it.
I think I'm going to try the blue and yellow gatorade flavors and just hope i get it down! so much liquid to get down...blehhh!

I use gatorade or powerade but also have found that apple juice was really the best tasting for me. Since apple juice is somewhat thicker already, the miralax does not really change the texture of it or taste. I can do the miralax prep anytime after doing the other preps over 30 times now. The worst is when you have to drink the powder in the huge jug. I threw up almost all of it before I was even halfway done.

I suck ice to numb my taste buds first then drink the prep then rinse my mouth out with very cold, fizzy lemonade ;)

I usually mix mine with hot tea--it's really soothing to my tummy and I can't really taste the miralax. Although, I will admit I will no longer drink hot tea on a normal day--just for prepping. Good Luck!

I want cold fizzy lemonade! ...actually I want a burrito, I'm so hungry hah. On the one hand, it's good 'cause I had a remicade treatment last week and I've been feeling a bit better...but that means I have more of an appetite!
It seems extra thick for some reason today....I used 32 oz of the blue gatorade incase I wanted to switch to a different flavor for the second half, and I tried to measure out half the miralax using the cap. I dont know, maybe its just as thick as last time. I feel like I have to slurp it down.
It looks so innocent in the cup. Though I shouldn't complain so much...that disgusting soda crap you used to have to drink would always make me throw up. And one year I tried to use pills you could get instead of the drink (which is stupid for someone like me who has a problem swallowing pills...) and man there were so many pills to begin with, but there I was cutting them in half! I was younger then, I remember hiding the majority of the pills that I didn't take and lying to my mom that I had more of them, haha
back to drinking....only drank half a cup so far...bleh!

Have you tried drinking it with a straw? I forgot to put that in my input early about
gatorade. I always use a straw and it seems better because it doesn't hit as much of your mouth and it is easier to drink a little faster without feeling like I am chugging it.

Hmm, maybe I'll try that on the next cup! I tried putting it over crushed ice, 'cause that makes me like drinking fluids better normally anyways...I'm still only down 2 cups or so....And I haven't started going to the bathroom yet but I think usually it takes a long time to hit me. I feel a little nauseous...gotta get more down!
I wish I could just cheat and take more laxatives pills...they're so small and easy to take down...would that help? I only took 2 with this prep....with my other doctor back in april i took 4 pills.

My advice is to not use anything that you're particularly fond of, becasue if you're like me, you'll NEVER want to drink that beverage again (plain)! GRoss!
I used crystal litesunrise (taste kinda like tang) mixed with pico salax and now dry heave just looking at it :)
33 years old, dx with Crohn's in 1998. Currently on :
Clofazimine 100mg daily,
Rifampin 600mg daily, and Clarithromycin 2 tabs daily
and Cipralex 10mg/day for anxiety.
Hydroxyzine, percocet, Ativan as needed.
5g pharmaceutical grade Omega 3's, 1000IU's Vitamin D3 daily
2 Perianal fistulas, and 1 more suspected. Crohn's only at end of colon, cecum. Remi, Asacol, Salofalk, Imuran, Humira did nada. Built immunity to long-term Cipro use, which also induced panic attacks.

I'm getting worried....I started my third cup and I all of a sudden started feeling really nauseous so I stopped drinking. I dont know, I'm guessing I'm just nauseous 'cause I'm hungry, I have a huge headache too but I don't know how I'm going to get more of this down with this nausea! I just started having some soup, I'm hoping it will trick my brain and help, I don't know.
I have the 2 laxatives in me and the few cups that I drank, but I haven't gone to the bathroom once yet so I'm getting nervous! Usually it takes a little bit to hit me but its already 6! arghhhh...i hope i can drink more....but right now i just feel way to nauseous...why do i suck so much at this....

I totally suck at it too- usually can't get it down fast enough to give me D- which isironic bc normally I have D 24/7
cupcakes has a good point that I forgot to mention. I cannot drink anything fast, so usin straw helps me. Also, try to position the straw so that the drink doesn't hit many taste buds.
Good luck!!
