Haven't been on the forums for awhile...had to take a break. Sometimes reading about Crohns just makes me feel worse. And sometimes I'm just to weak to think or type! lol Thought I'd drop a line and explain what I've been through the past few weeks.
Well, I went from having  D about 6-10 times a day to complete Constipation. So weird. Called GI and he was concerned things were swelling up again or scar tissue.  So it was time to do the regular tests...CT,  barrium X-ray, Pill Camera Test (due to Crohns being in small intestine). The last time I had the PillCT it got caught. So pictures were a dud! I was  kinda bummed to say the least. I was a little hesitant to try it again. But, whatcha' gonna do.?! sigh
Started with the clean out on Sunday and I always try to eat light a few days before because it just makes clean out easier. I started my prep  and realized that they didn't put the flavor in it! what the heck! I just started crying...didn't have the patience for drinking grossness....then in a matter of  20 minutes BAM!..I was cleaned out...so fast! Then, I still had 3/4 of the jug left. UGGHH! Continued to drink and I just lost sooooooooo much fluid. by 2:00 a.m. at night I was to dehydrated and felt puky and my heart was beating irregular with a BAD Headache!  ARRGG! Really, fought going to ER. This seems to happen every time I clean out. It's just really really rough on my body. Does anyone else have this prob? By morning I could hardly drive...luckily I live 2 min from the clinic. Even when I'm hospitalized for a clean-out it just puts me over the edge for a good week....maybe because we are so close to the edge anyways?
Awaiting my tests results. Thought I'd hear by now...no news is good news I hope.
Thanks for reading...and Take Care fellow Crohnies!

Yes, last time I had a colonoscopy had to go to the hospital early because I passed out from dehydration. Don't know how to do it differently, I drank as much as humanly possible during the prep, but still ended up needing IV fluids.

Since you were eating light and already passing clear liquid (I assume, since you wrote "then in a matter of 20 minutes BAM!..I was cleaned out...so fast") was it necessary to drink the rest of the prep? May be something to ask the doc.

The one and only time I had a colonoscopy, I stopped drinking the prep as soon as I was going clear for a solid hour or two. But at that point I probably couldn't drink any more of it anyways. I drank about half of it.

And that's a bummer you have to prep for the Pill Cam, my doc just made me fast for a day before it...

I agree if you are going clear that usually means you are cleaned out, I would have stopped at that point.

Aces High, I have heard so many say they did the pill cam they way you described. But at my hospital we have to do the prep too. Hmph!!

My experience was the same as Aces, my doc just made me fast for 1/2 day. The pictures in the small bowel could not have been more clear

I've done the pill camera several times, with a couple of doctors from the same group, so you would think they would follow the same procedures. But once I just had to fast, the others full clean out, so weird. No difference in the pictures, so maybe they should learn.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!
