Just wondering if anyone experiences night sweats and chills regularly. I am a 21 year old female with Crohn's and this happens to me most nights. I wear a modest pajama pants and short sleeve tshirt to bed and am usually freezing but I must wake up 4-5x a night either hot and sweating or freezing cold. Thank goodness we have electric heat so I have a control over my bed but most nights I wake up in the morning with the heat under 60 degrees. I live just outside Chicago and its January hahaha. I have been sick the past few nights, terrible stabbing stomach pains, and even vomiting. But even when I don't feel like this I consistently sweat and get chills every night. Also I've been taking my zofran a lot too. My sleep is all out of whack now... I just had some bloodwork and everything was ok except for low hemoglobin so I have to repeat my tests. I am on remicade, 6MP, zyrtec, yaz. Just wondering if anyone experiences this and how to deal and talk to the doctor about it if necessary?

Thank you

Night sweats means you wake up with the bedding actually drenched/wet. Are you having those or more like sweating from being hot?

Even though your labs are OK that doesn't tell the whole story. It's just a snapshot in time and, depending on what's going on, the right tests may not even be in your regular panel.

Have you let your GI or regular doctor know about these new symptoms?

If not, I would call the GI and talk to someone there so they know.

AND I would call your PCP and go see him/her right away to rule out non-GI causes for these symptoms.

If the symptoms have lasted more than 2 weeks it is important to let your docs know about them. This may have nothing to do with CD so I strongly urge you to go see your PCP.

You are on several immunosuppressants and may have picked up an infection or virus. I am battling an infection right now and the night sweats are terrible. The fact that you are also having active Crohn's symptoms means you should contact either you G.I. or primary care ASAP. Are you running a fever too? When I was on 6 mp, I also had a lot of night sweats and nausea.

I sweat bad, I'vd had to change sheets in the midle of night and pj's several times thru out night. I'm on rem, but I have sweated off and on my whole 40 years with this disease, evan with no med's, when I was on pred, then it was worse, but that aside, cd can make you have nite sweats, then you add med's and it can intensify. I think ivy posted a thread about wick sheets, they're $$$ but probably worth it. now I sweat it seems like 2-3 nites per week

YES!!  I get the night sweats too--had it last night and woke up soaking wet and freezing.  I keep thinking I have a flare coming on--have a scope scheduled for Wednesday.  I had blood work last week and everything was perfectly normal except my lymphocytes were a little low and my potassium was border line low.  Even my ESR was completely normal, but I feel that something isn't quite right.  I get the night sweats at least 3-4 days per week, sometimes more.  I'm not on any Crohn's meds right now--just B12 injections, Zoloft and Synthroid.  Although if I have active inflammation show up on the scope, my GI wants me to start Humira, which I have come to terms with.

i find when i am flaring up i get the sweats. I mean full on soaking wet. Nothing like waking up wet, taking a min. to figure out why your soaked, getting up stripping off the wet pj's, fumblling around to fine dry ones and then spending the next few hours trying to get back to sleep. ug

I have definitely had to change pjs a few times. I will definitely call my doctors and see what they have to say.

I have been experiencing night sweats and the chills ever since a month or two after taking methotrexate. I told my doctor, and they had some x-rays taken to rule out small organ cancer. Don't worry- It wasn't cancer. I was told to let my gyno know about my problems because it could be some sort of hormonal thing.
