Hello, I am very confused at this time, I have had crohn's for 25 yrs, since I was 16, and I have been on different meds, but I noticed about 7mths ago, that there was an issue, so I went to see the Dr, lon story short had a test done and they found a fistula or simply a hole in my bowel that is somehow streamy there:(. I have been doing Gluten and Dairy free for 4 months which has been going very well for me and all the symptoms of crohn's( blood in stool, pain in stomach)
Now all I need is surgery to fix the issue, but no Dr available to do it one is a 30mth wait just to see him, and waiting for a responce on another.

I heard that the injuection Remicade can help, but I have to get it approved from my drug plan.
Please reply if you have any suggestings.

Hello and welcome. There are many people here who have fistulas. Remicade does help with fistulas, but there are other drugs that can help too. The boards are slow on the weekends, so just be patient and some one will be around who will have some answers for you. You don't say where you are located and what, if any, other drugs/treatments you are currently on. This would be helpful.

I don't want to alarm you but you MUST see your gynecologist and/or urologist right away !

Anything leaking from the intestines can carry e-coli and other highly toxic bacteria into the urinary tract.

I have had an anal fistula for years with drainage, lived with it until it closed down.

Then I had two bowel fistulas for about two years, lots of pain, but still lived with them.

The point, so far, is that some fistulas can wait, but any fistulas burrowing into other organs is a serious matter. So then the nastiest of fistulas appeared:

Then I had a fistula that started burrowing into my bladder and the urologist told me that this was an extremely serious condition that can propagate septicimia into the blood and I will be in critical care in the hospital. Then it took 3 months to finally have the surgery to remove that part of the bowel. So its not like it is going to happen to you tomorrow.

I realize that you have not mentioned the bladder and it is occurring in a different area of the anatomy. But still, anytime you have these organ cross-overs with intestinal juices, it is a cause for a major investigation and resolution.

You still have time, please promise me that you will not let this lapse !

I also had the same kind of fistula and have had no problems since being on Remicade. I believe it is healed.
