so my brief fling with Remicade is over.  We did the Remicade antibody blood test and i just got the results back today...bad news...
no remicade in the blood but a high level of antibodies- the # was over 8.00 where it should be negative.  Oh well...i don't think it was working for me anyway so we're on to Humira or Cimzia- any thoughts on which one people like better?

thanks!

Cimzia sounds like a better choice. Shots aren't supposed to be painful like Humira ones. Some recent research evidence suggests less chance of problems due to Remicade antibodies if you go with Cimzia over Humira.

Sorry it didn't work out.

I know there's concerns about the small increase in cancer risk, but you might want to talk to GI about adding an immune modulator (6-MP or MTX) to try to prevent antibodies with new med. That's assuming you can tolerate those meds of course.

Best wishes,

Patricia

I went to cimzia when I had built up antibodies in my blood and it did work for the bowel symptoms. The shots are just as painful as the humira ones but that is just for a couple seconds. My legs got a little sore the next day but it was really not that bad. Did you doctors try adding methotrexate or 6 mp along with the remicade to combat the antibodies? When I built mine up, I was able to get a couple years more of remicade by adding those meds. I am back on remicade since a year of cimiza did nothing for my arthritis and my antibodies are pretty much gone. Maybe in the future you will be able to try it again.

sorry to hear that, no wonder you were in so much pain, let me know about which ever you choose, and your reactions to them

After I developed antibodies to Remicade, I took Humira. I was on it for a bit over a year, at which time I stopped because I was doing well with just SCD and pentasa.
