Since being diagnosed with Crohn's, I have had a significant amount of hair loss over the past 5 years. I have been taking Biotin and Biosil for the past three, but its effectivess seems to be wearing off. It was recommended to my sister to start taking Evening Primrose Oil for her hair loss due to Hashimotos. I am currently on Humira and wanted to see if anyone else has tried Evening Primrose Oil for Crohn's or hair loss? And if so, while taking Humira or Remicade?

Thank you!

I haven't taken Evening Primrose but I was interested in it for crohn's symptoms. I haven't gotten around to trying it but I did use folic acid for my hair loss and it seemed to have worked for me. I had initially lost nearly 3/4 of my hair and started supplementing Biotin and Folic acid and my hair has grown back thick as ever. Keep us posted on the Evening Primrose Oil!

I have not heard about this being a help for hairloss. Interesting! I have found that folic acid has helped immensley to slow down all the hairshedding I was having. Good luck!

I am on Humira and have had hair loss. Not any bald spots, just an increase in shedding. I have taken Evening Primose for painful dense breast tissue in the past and was thinking about starting it again. I will have to take note and see if it helps my hair too.

Thank you for your responses! There is some interesting information online regarding Evening Primrose and thyroidism. I will check with my G.I. and get his feedback. If he is okay with it, I will keep you posted.

Wonderwen- What dose of Evening Primrose do you take? I have bad fibrocystic breasts, in fact, they call me the cyst queen whenever I go for my mamogram and ultrasound. Someone there suggested Evening Primrose for this but wasn't sure of dose. It may be worth a try trying it!

pmedic- I think that I just took the dosage on the bottle - maybe one or two a day. It really helped with breast pain and I am not sure why I stopped taking it??? The breast surgeon suggested it to me and also said to take vitamin E.

I am on Humira and have also noticed a lot of shedding in the past 6 months.  Does Evening Primrose Oil work or should I try Folic Acid.
