I have been doing pretty well lately (really well when I see how awful some of you have had it recently).  For the last 2-3 week I have had some taste issues.  Everything I eat tastes odd or has no taste or tastes like tin or like dry dirt.  Even chocolate and milk tastes weird to me and I love chocolate and milk and they do not disagree with me.  I had eggs over easy and dry white toast this weekend....it literally had no taste (even when i added extra salt) and I could really feel it on my tongue.
I'm not on any new meds.  I had a nasty cold and fever, but this started before that and continues after.  A friend suggested I may have a bacterial issue.  I brush my teeth regularly including my tongue.  Not sure if this is it.  Anyone know what this could be?  I just threw my lunch sandwich out after only two bites because I could not stand it.  I keep ordering food/making food then only eating two bites.  I am now getting hungry.

Hmmm, this is interesting because I am having a very similar issue. My Crohn's seems to be doing better but my appetite and maintaining my weight isn't going well. Everyone thinks my Crohn's isn't under control because I keep losing weight, but it is more I just don't eat enough because like you everything tastes yucky.

I will think something sounds good for dinner and same as you I have two or three bites and the chewing and texture and taste becomes unbearable or something and I don't want to swallow it.

Sorry I don't have any insight as to the problem but find it interesting that our issue sounds the same.
Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1998, father has UC we were both diagnosed at 20 yrs old.

I have had this off and on throughout my life. Sometimes my food just doesn't have any taste. I haven't found a rhyme or reason to it. It doesn't seem to occur always in flare or in remission or at the onset of a flare. But this disease is "mouth to anus", so I just assume that, like those remission days that I eat something disagreeable to my stomach, I have some days that are disagreeable to my tongue.

I try not to throw food out, though. I have had to throw out full drinks that just taste wrong to me, though my wife says it tastes good to her. In fact, I'll make or eat intentionally bland stuff for a couple of days just so that don't get disappointed in bad taste...it becomes more a chore of eating the calories I need so that I don't lose weight.

You might have something going on in your sinuses. If you lose your sense of taste, often times it is related to your sense of smell. My aunt lost her sense of taste permanently years ago due to over use of nasal decongestants. Everything tasted off to her. She didn't have CD or any other GI issues. I would call your Primary doctor and get in for an appointment, at the very least speak to the nurse in the office to see what their take on it is.
