ok i'm in severe pain...my stomach is KILLING me.  every time i try to eat anything or even sip water the pain intensifies...i have been able to go to the br so don't think its an obstruction...i was put on antibiotics last week for an infected ingrown hair or something on my chin...i'm sure that has really messed up my gut even though i've been taking a probiotoc also.  i was able to get into my pain mgmt doc tomorrow but i'm not sure how that's going to go since i'm out of meds early sue to an absolutely horrible month (and a kidney stone to boot)...i haven't been to the er for my crohns in ages...what do they do?  do they "manage" the pain or will they tell me tough luck?  i can't take it...i'm in tears in front of my 6 year old daughter and that absolutely kills me.  i hate having her see me like this!!!!!  not to mention i haven't made it to the office since wed last week -- luckily i can work from home but it's not looked highly upon...

I'm interested in the answer to this. I am also on antibiotics (the standard Cipro & Flagyl) and I also have intense stomach pain right now. So at least you know you're not alone? I've found a heating pad helps with the pain for a bit, but that's about all I've got.

My opinion is, that if you're in that much pain, you should go to the ER... Good luck.

Yes, I agree with Dunny. There's no way we can know if it is your Crohn's, or if there's something else causing your pain, and you don't deserve to be suffering so much, without care and assistance.

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain.

thanks all...i'm about 50/50 right now...i posted on the chronic pain forum also and someone responded that if you're in the care of a pain mgmt doc then the er should be a last resort and you should call them before and after you go...that seems rediculous...are the pain mgmt docs really that concerned that someone would spend hours in the er getting poked and prodded spending hundreds of dollars just to get high???? ***???

go, go, go. If you are asking the question then it's time to go. I'm sure your GI and Pain Mgmt docs have an answering service, page the on-call docs. I've found that helpful when going to the emergency, that way they can call ahead for you....

Mtg, if you're having trouble eating and drinking, then maybe you should be going to the hospital, just to make sure you get adequate hydration.

Dehydration + Crohn's = bad idea :-(.

Do you have someone who can watch your daughter? Will it cost you money to go to the ER, or can you be seen for free?

Can you phone your gastro doc and ask for help and advice?

well i decided not to go last night...long night but i got some sleep. had my appt with my pm doc today and he was awsome! so empathetic- refilled me early after i told him exactly what was going on and that i had taken all my meds early due to this insane pain- no lecture, no guilt trip...this guy is awesome. now i need to get into my GI and figure out what the heck is going on bc this needs to get resolved fast! i know it's horrible to do so but i had to stop taking the antibiotics...stupid, but i'm sure that's what set me off and the pain is just intense plus running to the br constantly isn't much fun either!

Don't beat yourself up about stopping the antibiotics, I have had to do it too. They tear my stomach up so much, that the pain and misery are just not worth it. Usually within a couple days I start to feel better. Hopefully the GI will find something else to help you. Hugs!

I can not take anti's, they do a number on my stomach, uncontrolable D. i mean the last time I had anti's i crapped in the bed 3 times in one night, thats right folks, wet D, and I didn't evan know until I went to scratch my butt and came up with wet D in my hand, at 1 in the a.m. changed clothes, took shower my wife changed bedding, got back in bed and the same thing happened again, I thought I had some gas, that I tried to gently release and sure enough, same thing all over again, change bedding shower, the whole thing, got back in bed, same BS again, and I was supposed to work the next day, luckily I work out of my house, so I gave myself verbal warning, next dude, I will write myself up.but what a night. what really sucked( man I'm glad we can talk about this type of stuff) was they were full blown BM's, so you can imagine at 1 in the morning. I love taking showers at 1 in the morning, still under my sleeping med. so I was a little groggy as well.
