Everything i eat anymore seems to give me gas no matter what. It hurts for a few hours until i can get it to pass. I take activated charcoal tabs everytime i eat. I don't know what to do it makes me not want to eat at all just to avoid the pain.

Anyone have advice? Similar experience? I'm so tired of feeling like i fight just to eat amd am never comfortable anymore with pain. I just want it to stop! confused

when I was in the midst of my last flare I felt like that too. You just figure out what hurts the least and stick with that. Common culprits should be eliminated completely: dairy (lactose at least) and gluten (give it a 2-3 week shot and reevaluate).

Try some digestive enzymes. You can pick them up at the pharmacy. Talk to your doc or pharmacist about proper usage. Good luck!

Also, some chamomile might help.

Hi Andi,
Sorry things are so hard. I think it's the flare itself causing all the trouble, but I agree with the suggestions above. Stay with boring foods like rice and potatoes and ease everything else in slowly.

I have been staying with the easy stuff like that. Thats the hardest part bc idk what will help it. Im so hungry and would love to just eat a normal meal again. Miso soup and clear soup work well. Japanese food... Not the veggies and sauces, but rice, meats, and those soups work really well. I wish i could afford to eat out for that stuff all the time til thos clears up. Eggs work well too. My husband fries rice with eggs and a fish or seafood for me about once a week ilove it. I hate that hes giving up eating alot of what he likes bc of me. He does like to cook and try out making new things and im very grateful for that

think of this as an opportunity to learn to cook some new things. It's not hard to cook asian food at home. I'm glad to know there are some things that work for you.

I also have large amounts of gas no matter what I eat, even when I'm in remission. Just avoid large amounts of red meat which causes flatulence to smell bad. I hope this helps!

Have you been tested to see if you have a bacterial overgrowth? It doesn't necessarily have to be c-diff. I was experiencing the same thing, extremely painful gas no matter what I ate, severe diarrhea. After dealing with it for 3 weeks, I called my Dr and told him what was going on and just based on my symptoms he said I had bacterial overgrowth, (I think he called it SIBO). He called me in a 10 day course of cipro and flagyl and I started feeling much better within a couple of days. It would be worth talking to your Dr about. Gas pain is the worst, pain meds don't even seen to touch them! Good luck!

I agree with grayeyedblonde! Talk to your GI about a possible bacterial overgrowth. I have had it a few times. I had d that was very sticky, everytime I ate I would get really bloated and gassy, which in turn made my stomach hurt. Very easy to treat, with a 10 day course of a med like Cipro, Flagyl or Xifaxin. Also, helps to be taking a good probiotic. There are tests for it like a breath test, but my GI always went off my symptoms too. Good luck!

I feel your pain...literally. Everything gives me gas (and a lot of things cause reflux but that's another matter..). I have it now. But I also had some D today. I guess I hate to much sugary candies..
Still, I get gas after every meal. Except for breakfast, anyway. Always are my guts making noises, and feeling like they are squirming..
I'm not even in a Flare and this happens. When I am in flare, it can cause intense, painful bloating.
Some of this is from sloppy eating, but some remains a mystery to me!

Sincerely,
Matthew
