Bummer, but hopefully it will help! My husband just complained of sore throat, that throat spray helped, cepacol I think. They will tuck it behind your ear and tape so if it gets sore after a while just carefully re-tape it and move it, just make sure the length isn't affected. Im sure your wife will know, and be able to help. If its stuck in the same spot for a long time it can cause some skin breakdown, especially if you haven't been getting good nutrition. And about
your MRSA infections, has anyone ever suggested hibiclens wash?
I think the NJ tube will help, you're in my thoughts! Stay positive, this WILL pass, it WILL get better!!! It's just a bump in the road, as you know all about
!

Hi T'Dawg,
I'm glad that they are trying something different and not just leaving you to suffer! You certainly need a break from endless nausea and vomiting, and maybe with the NJ tube, you won't be in pain and can cut back on the pain meds too. Do you have any idea how long you will need to have it, or does it just go by symptoms? I'm sorry you have to go to this level of care, but I really hope it helps you to feel better. Keep us updated. I'll be thinking of you!
53 yr. old female, diagnosed with Crohn's in terminal ileum Sept-Oct. 2007. Also have IBS. Disease spread 12/11 to distal ileum Dx. with c.difficile and gastroparesis 1/12.

I'm not familiar with the NJ tube, other than through diagrams in old textbooks, but wanted to send you my very best wishes, Dawg.
Will you have to be in hospital while the tube is in place, or will you be able to stay at home and move around normally?
I hope it helps you, and gives you a break from the nausea and other horrible symptoms.
Ivy.

Hi T"dawg,
Just a note to say hello. I hope you get some relief soon. I have never had the NJ tube you described, only the NG tube. I must say...I hated it, BUT it gave me much needed relief from the pain due to an obstruction. I was on TPN for about
3wks and loved that too. I hope you feel better soon. (((hugs))) kathy

im wondering though if even if its going out the stomach, that you wont vomit it up? just from the spams. it wouldnt take much.. have they had any thought to just a "j" yube. despite your infections? just poking in through the skin into the jujenum? my G tube way back when was similar. and i could vent stomach pressure out of it. for relief. there is asite for gastroparesis support if you didnt know about
it a "www.oleyfriends.com." .

Hoping this will give your body the strength to fight some of those "demons" you're dealing with. Hang in there.

Dawg, I haven't had any experience w/the "J" tube, but did have an NG tube for 6 weeks. I sure hope it works for you. I loved being on TPN but sure can understand the reasoning for NOT going w/TPN and a PICC line for now. Any type of "entrance" into you body via the skin has got to be risky and scarey w/MRSA. (((hugs))) Secure the "J" tube as securely as possible. The less it is allowed to move the less it is likely to irritate the "pathway".
My computer says I need to upgrade my brain to be compatible with its new software.
