Hi, I was wondering if someone can please tell me after stopping Imuran how long it takes for it to get completely out of your system? I was recently told by a pharmacist that it depends on the individual but it takes approximately 25 hours to completely leave your body. The reason I'm asking is because I might have an elective surgery in the future and I don't want to have Imuran in my system at all when I do because it suppresses your immune system.

It just seems odd to me that Imuran can leave the body that quickly when it takes a long time to build up in your body. So, if after stopping the Imuran it takes approximately 25 hours to completely leave the body and therefore no longer effect the healing process, then wouldn't it in theory make it so if you were to start taking the medicine again after 25 hours that it would take a long time to build it up in your body again?

I think what they mean is the pill physically takes up to 25 hours to leave your system but the effects of it last longer.

I understand what you mean though. I still have effects from pills that I haven't been on in weeks/months/years.

Hi, just to clarify what do you mean by "effects?" Do you mean that it can still continue to suppress the immune system and therefore negatively affect wound healing?
