I woke up yesterday with a sore throat. Yes very common to happen. Of course i had to get a flashlight to look at my throat. To my surprise the uvula (thingy that hangs down in back of mouth) was very swollen and had blood blisters all over it. So of course i went to pcp. Turns out i have bacterial uvulitus. So i have to take antibiotics...levoquin. This puts me at risk for cdiff, which ive had a few times. Since ive started taking this medicine i have begun nausia and vomiting. Man did vomiting burn my throat. Its still burning. Could the vomiting be an allergic reaction to the medicine? Im allergic to a lot of meds. Has anyone here ever had bacterial uvulitus?

I have been on antibiotics for 3 years straight maybe more for lymes, I also took florastor and culterell, never got c diff. Florastor is the best to keep c diff away. I have never had your infection. Sorry I can't help there,

Ugh, not fun! I am so sorry. I always get really sick with antibiotics, too. I don't think it's an allergic reaction - it's really common to get nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea with antibiotics. I would suggest calling your PCP and getting a prescription for Zofran to help. And like @therearemiracles said, Florastor is the best probiotic for fighting c. diff.

I haven't had your infection so cannot speak to that.

The antibiotics.....since Crohns I have become "intolerant" to many of them with vomiting. The zophran helps tremendously. Personally, I would try that and see if it worked before trying a new med.

When I get infections in my throat I also gargle with lemon juice with lots of salt. Tastes nasty, burns like fire, but the infections seem to clear.... My friend uses lemon and honey. It throws the ph off and makes it hard for bacteria.....

Hope you feel better soon!

I have periodontal disease and the absolute best thing I've used to control the bacteria in my mouth is rinsing with hydrogen peroxide every.single.day. i use a solution of half water/ half peroxide.
