Fistula plug falling out!!!

Hi,

I have suffered from a perianal fistula for the past 2.5 years and after having two initial incision & drainage a draining seton was put in place in 2015. July this year my CRS advised he was going to try putting a plug in place. This had been one of the worst experiences! I have been in constant pain and still on antibiotics! I now fear the plug is actually coming out sad

Just looking for any support or advice as I just don't know where to turn anymore. I know I will have to contact my CRS tomorrow but could it come out completely overnight? Has it failed? I am just so fed up now and don't see the end of it all!!

Hi Dollco2,

Although I haven't had a plug, I can relate. 10+ I & D's, failed seton placements and ongoing gyne issues due to recto-vag for a year. It's almost ruined my life and I'm in physical/emotional distress all the time, including now as I can feel the RVF almost ready to burst open. I'm scared and really have no one to turn too. I'm looking for another CRS who will do a LIFT and get rid of the infection.

It's so terrible and I'm sorry. I hope someone else chimes in with advice.

UC/Crohns - tested positive for MAP antibodies & mycobacterium
PG- remission
chronic perianal abscess and fistulas. Failed setons...it was pure torture.
started Stelara May 24, 2017. 100mg imuran

Hoping to start Anti-MAP drugs soon
Had a 10 week reprieve, now flaring...again. 4 years of flaring is tiresome.

So the plug is eventually supposed to start falling out as it starts healing. Mine only stayed in a couple of days, and obviously it failed. Don't pull on it or anything, and give a call tomorrow to have them check on it anyway.
