Bit of a rant. My Daughter thought she picked up some sort of bug over the last several days. Flu-like symptoms, along with a cold. Fever came later, so she called the Doctor, but unavailable. Saw a nurse practitioner instead. Sent her home also feeling it was a virus.

Today much worse, so called again, this time insisting on seeing any Doctor available. Ours wasn't available again, but the one we saw was very good. Immediately diagnosed her with Strep throat. Because of having Crohn's, she didn't even want to take the chance on waiting for cultures. Put her on antibiotics right away.

She's in bed now still with a high fever, and hasn't eaten much of anything in days. The only good news is, she still has about 4 weeks until her next Remicade infusion, so should be okay there.

I worry so much about my Daughter, always tell her she's going to be the death of me yet.

Rant over, tomorrow's another day. Is that a good thing?

I hope your daughter feels better soon! My son has Crohn's and I agree - worrying about them and trying to keep abreast of their Crohn's and anything else they might have is exhausting! But tomorrow IS another day and I think that is a BEAUTIFUL thing!

Thanks Betty Sue,

I totally agree, worrying can certainly be exhausting. I agree with you once more, having tomorrow to look forward to is a "BEAUTIFUL" thing.

My Daughter is still pretty down and out. Doctor said 48 hours for the antibiotic to take effect. So once again, looking ahead to tomorrow being a better day.

73, just a thought please have your daughter throw away her tooth brush & start with a new one. My grandson had it in May, I used bleach wipes on everything he touched, lol. Hopefully tomorrow she will feel better.

It's kind of unusual to have a cold with strep throat. Did she have a positive throat culture? I only ask because of the high risk of c.diff with Crohn's patients and antibiotics. Either way, make sure she takes some probiotics for prevention. I have a miserable cold and fever myself right now.....I hate summer colds! I hope she feels better soon....she's been through a lot!!
58 yr. old female, diagnosed with Crohn's in terminal ileum Sept-Oct. 2007. Dx. with c.difficile 1/12, 10/14, 11/15, 1/16. Fecal transplant on 2/24/16, and so far, no more c.diff!

5/20/14: Ileo-colic resection surgery after stricturing and partial bowel obstruction.
Not currently on any Crohn's meds and in remission, but struggling with bad IBS.

Didn't know that having other cold like symptoms don't usually show up with Strep? She did have a throat swab, and we're suppose to get a call today with the results. The Doctor was quite positive that it's strep though. She is taking probiotics as well.

straydog@ Actually thought of that last night, and bought her a few new toothbrushes. Probably just consider them disposable for awhile.

Also, just to keep things interesting. Yesterday, one of her wisdom teeth started moving. Her gums were really sore. She was suppose to have that one taken out, but it settled down for awhile, and she put it off. So now she needs to get to the dentist, but has to get over the strep first. She just told me she hasn't slept again all night. She can't really tell if the antibiotics are working, because the tooth pain is the worst of it all right now.

I am so sorry to hear what your daughter is going through - it seems to be piling on. Hang in there - I feel so helpless as a parent and would trade places with my son in a second - although that is not a choice I am given! I hope your daughter feels better soon!!! 🌈
