I have had 3 colposcopies, after the first one I ended up in the ER with severe pain and I was loosing chunks of tissue. After the last 2 I have had lots of pain so I am worried about this. I have scheduled it and I go on November 9th

I had to have it done twice, but my GYN was a horrible human being. I never went back. I only went to him because of my abnormal pap smears and at the time, with the insurance I had it would have taken months to get in to see a different doctor.

As long as you have a good raport with your GYN or whichever GYN is doing it, they can make it more or less comfortable for you. If you aren't familiar with this doctor, ask around, the nurses in which ever group you belong to are usually able to tell you who the "nice" GYN's are.

I was wondering why you have to have it done? You don't have to say, it is a private thing. I just wanted you to know that my pap smears kept coming back abnormal off and on for a few years, but we realized it was probably because of my rectal/vaginal fistula. Since I've had surgery and it finally healed, I've never had another abnormal pap.

Remove it all? Meaning your entire uterus? Do you have active CD? Fistulas? Unless you WANT to get rid of your uterus (I did, I was done with it) I would get a second opinion.
