Hi all,

My GI is placing me on humira both he and the RA doc think it will help my CD related arthritis.  I brought the script to the pharmacy today and it did in fact require pre authorization.  They contact my GI, the GI calls my insurance...I was wondering how long it typically takes to get approval for it...they are going to see about ordering it so when it gets approved it is already at the pharmacy since they order it on a patient need basis.

Also the dumb microbiologist gave my mom the wrong containers for my stool specimin so I have to collect another one yayyyyy.  At least I can use my monday am poo and bring it right to the local satalite location for the hospital since I have to go there anyway for them to read the pre employment ppd test.  At least that way I dont need to put it in the fridge, the location is a mile and a half from my house.

I'm on Humira and your right it has to be pre approved.I took my script to my pharmacy and they called my GI and told them that they needed to call my insurance so he could fill my Humira and about fourty minutes later they had it approved. If you don't hear any thing over the week end I would call your Pharmacy an ask if they have heard from the insurance co or your GI if not you might want to call them your self.

My GI said it can take 2-3 weeks, I see him on Oct 10th so I may wait til then anyway so that they can administer the first loading dose there. I just want it to be ready before then.
