What should I do? On remicade and think I'm catching an upper respiratory infection.

Well, the title of this pretty much says it all.  Everyone around me has had this horrible upper respiratory infection, and today I started feeling really tired, have a slightly stuffy nose and my lungs hurt.  I called my GI and they told me since its not techinically GI related I should call my PCP.  So I called them and left a message asking if I should do anything or be concerned or come in for an appointment and no one has called me back yet.

Has anyone developed a serious infection on remicade?  I am kind of worried.

I caught an upper respiratory virus that was going around last fall. One of my kids had it at the same time I did. She got better in about 5 days and I got progressively more sick. Cough, fever, then wheezing and more difficulty breathing. I finally knew that I needed some treatment. I definitely had bronchitis and the doc thought likely pneumonia. He didn't want to do a chest xray since I had just had a bunch of xrays. Antibiotics and an inhaler and I was better in a week.

The best you can do is see if you develop something and then go to your PCP. At this time of year, when the crude starts circulating, remember to wash your hands well, especially after being in public places. If someone in your house has the crude, make sure THEY wash THEIR hands.

Oops - forgot to mention I was on Remicade and Imuran when I got sick. It did delay my next infusion by 10 days until I got better.

I had mny URi while on remicade. Of course I was unable to get the infusions until I git better from them. A cpl times it turned into pneumonia. One time my pulomonologist pulled me off imuran too for a short time since the bronchitis was lingering. That was what it took to make it go away.

Ok, thanks guys. They did call me back and said they wanted me to come in tomorrow just to be on the safe side, but I don't have anything serious yet. It is definitely starting though. You know how you feel when you are getting sick... you just know. I don't know if there's much I can do until it gets worse, but oh well.
