Hi I just wanted to remined everybody the Flu season is among us again. We are in the
high risk category. I am getting a flu shot again.

I was diagnosed with crohns disease when i was admitted to the hospital
in 1992, in Jan of 1993 I was back in the hospital for surgery for my crohns. I had part of my right colon resectioned with ilecolonstomy.
 My GI doctor has me on Asacol, Dicyclomine,Imuran,Celebrex and Remicade. B-12 injection once a month.
My Internest doctor has me on Lisnopril-HTCZ and Folic Acid. Diagnosed
with Osteoarthritis July 2007

Hi TBW,

I am without a job and insurance right now but will be getting a flu shot at a local drug store. I am getting the shot October 1st. I get one every year and recommend it for all crohnies.

Don't forget your pneumonia shot also. I think you need to renew every 5 years?

49 years old, CD since I was a child.    
Six resection surgeries, permanent ostomy, adverse reactions to Remicade finally off of Prednisone, hoping for a long remission from this last surgery.

Just checked with HR (new job) and we will be getting flu shots at work - she's working on it now.
32 years old. Diagnosed in 2002ish. 
Taking Asacol, Lomotil TID, and on Remicade since 2004. 
Lower Bowel area only, except for the short stint (about 2 weeks) that I had mouth sores.  Also have external/anal fistula and anal/vaginal fistula.

thanks for the reminder, between the remicade and the pred i catch anything if someone sick so much as looks at me!

I think its very important for us chronnies to have a flu shot. Thanks Judy I will ask my doctor about
getting pneumonia shot also.

I was just thinking about flu shots- can you get one if your are on Humira?

Luckily my Husband's company lets spouses come for their Flu clinic too. He signed me up today. Of course he won't get one, cause if I get one and both kids get one, he doesn't need one. Gotta love the logic.

CD 19 years offically, 29 unofficially. 3 resections '93, '95 '97
Symptoms constantly but all tests show only minor ulcerations. Currently having multiple episodes of gastritis with no known cause.


Prednisone, 6MP,Prevacid, B12 shots, Bentyl, Xifaxan.....

Yes, you can get flu shot if you are on either Humira or Remicade. In fact most, but not all, GIs will recommend it for their patients with Crohns. Please everyone, ask your PCP or GI if you should get a flu shot.

You can get a flu shot if you are on Remicade or Humira.

yeah, I need mine, luckily this last year I never caught any flus, but I sure caught about 6 colds including the one I am suffering now, wish they made a shot for those....
pneumonia shot? wow...don't know if I have had one of those ever at all lately, much less the last 5 years...
26 year old, married. Diagnosed with Crohns at 17, suspected of having for at least a year or so before that.  Alot of Crohns in my family history.  No surgeries yet.  2 bad Flares so far. Taking Entocort.

I was also just told to get the flu and pneumonia shot.  I have never even had the flu and am afraid of it....

Thanks for the reminder -- I always get one, and I guess this year it's more important than ever.
44 years old, newly diagnosed after an 8-day hospitalization in September 2007 but symptoms for several years before that.
Taking Pentasa, Prednisone, Prilosec and a multi-vitamin -- also Levoxyl for hypothyroid (Dx 2004)
Gall bladder surgery in 1997.
Single working mom to three wonderful kids, ages 9 to 15.

So appreciative to have this forum -- it's all new to me!

I wont be getting mine anytime soon .........family members DONT get it NOT to bring their sick kiddies here and I am now suffering with Pnuemonia .was bronchitis but hey ...........got to have the best ya know

BUT I will be shot again and the pnuemovax as well
You get them here every 5 yrs ............
